I used one picture for all the effects just for consistency for comparison. The title for each photo consists of the category of the effect and the name of the effect. Some effects would be better used on a different image. There are some effects also that appear to do the same thing in different effect categories.

Ezimba also has a Facebook app, Google Android app, and a free iPhone app. Please note that the free iPhone app puts a small logo on the edited image. You can buy the paid ezimba app and not have the logo.

Harold G. Shipp's First High Flier

Hello, I am Philip Cote. My thoughts when first seeing the nicely drafted Avro Lancaster bomber was a memory of my grandfather and how he was a skilled boat builder. I remember going for a boat ride around Georgian Bay when I was a boy. I remember the sound of the motor of this boat, it sounded amazing and the look of this boat was of a dark mahogany lacquer finish. At the time I was 7 years old so the whole boat ride was like a dream. My grandfather's name was Harvey, but we called him Grandpa. He was a full-blooded Potawatomi from Moose Deer Point First Nation. It’s a reserve just south of Parry Sound but he lived in Parry Sound. I remember going to visit him over those early years in my life. I remember playing in the back of his home where there was pink granite everywhere on a great sloping hill out back of his home. That was my playground. One day while there I brought out a toy airplane, it was a replica of a World War II fighter plane. He talked about that plane in detail about how fast it was and even how it was built like a boat, and I asked him how? He said these planes were made of wood and that’s what made them very light and that was why they fly so fast. I told him I had a Spitfire, and it was one of the fastest planes during World War II but my grandpa started to talk about the Mosquito and how it was one the fastest planes during World War II and how he was one of those craftsmen who helped build these Mosquito planes. He said because he was such a well-known boat builder the Canadian Air Force came looking for him because they heard of his reputation for building fine boats. He went to Ottawa for training to read blueprints and to work from engineering blueprints and there began building the Mosquito for World War II with De Havilland.

It’s now been 77 years since he was there making a difference in the defense of our country back in 1944. Seventy-five years ago today, the de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito took flight for the first time. The Mosquito was one of the most useful Allied Aircrafts of World War II. It performed as a bomber, fighter, anti-shipping and photo-reconnaissance platform. The key to the success of the “Wooden Wonder” was its light wood construction and the power of its twin engine, the “Merlin” engines which were Rolls Royce engines. These engines gave it the speed to out fly almost any other aircraft type from the war. Nicknamed the “mossie” by its crews, the Mosquito could fly virtually unchallenged and deliver devastatingly precise attacks with bombing radar. Production of all Mosquitoes totaled 7,781 and the DH.98 served with over a dozen nations. A Mosquito became the first twin-engine aircraft to land on a ship on March 25, 1944, aboard the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Indefatigable.

More on Python in the browser

On 2008AUG091434 I made a comment on Silverlight2 and running IronPython and I got an interesting response from Voidspace. I can see where these types of comments come from. A lot of work can be done at the client end with heavier widgets. I can see the market moving this way. But requiring yet another technology layer, a proprietary technology (Silverlight, not the language) is backwards thinking. 280Slides have also recognised the need for more desktop-like applications in the browser. But they work with the grain of the Web and created the Cappuccino framework that is both Open Sourced and talks to the browser with JavaScript. I have no beef with Python, IronPython, Microsoft. Developers and to a certain extent users have technology alternatives. That's got to be good for everyone.

What about speed?

The recent entry of Google Chrome is just the technological shot in the arm developers & users need. More choice. As for choice of language, Javascript is now to the browser as Python is to the OS.

I've repeated the response (for what it's worth) here:

Python in the browser starting ( requires Silverlight 2 Beta 2)

"... Voidspace ..." Ahh ~ www.voidspace.org.uk/python/weblog/index.shtml

"... very different to being able to execute Python *in the browser*, and more secure. ...

How would it be more secure?

waffle ....

"... But its client side and your suggestions are server side ..."

Sure I suggested it run server side. The big problem I have with running anything client side that requires additional downloads is why?

Why do I need to have anything other than what ships with the existing browser?

"... An interactive Python interpreter that runs in the browser, using Silverlight 2 and IronPython. ..."

Silverlight is just another MS technology to get into the middle between developers and users. That's all. If you want to use it, fine. I'm not.

I guess the other thing worth pointing out is the poor client side python support by Open Source applications. It's a missed opportunity not to have Python at the browser but that's where JavaScript steps in.

"... I could make comments about what proportion of market share is lost by not supporting Linux ...

You're right.

For me though it's not about market share winers or losers. It's about not having some company shoveling me some piece of unnecessary technology then charging me for the experience. If developers want to buy into this they can. They also have technology alternatives to chose from.

"... Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. ... ~ silverlight.net/GetStarted/

The saddest thing is you don't need this technology to get cross browser, cross platform media or interactive applications.

Power shift

The economic clout of customers is increasing, and customers are exercising that power. When Netflix announced last summer that it would be increasing rates and splitting its streaming and DVD businesses, customers loudly broadcast their discontent on blogs and other social media.

techcitement.com/software/webapps/coming-to-a-netflix-nea...

Netflix stock plummeted.

When the CEO publicly apologized but did not change direction, in a post titled "An explanation and some reflections" blog.netflix.com/2011/09/explanation-and-some-reflections... and a related video An explanation and some reflections he fanned the flames of customer discontent: (Warning, rated V for vulgarity: Hitler Reacts To Netflix Apology and Qwikster Announcement)

The stock dropped even further.

A few weeks later the CEO reversed the decision and Wall Street punished the company even more. blog.netflix.com/2011/10/dvds-will-be-staying-at-netflixc...

At this point I think it just felt like more bad news, but IMHO it was good news.

Although the company made some bad decisions they also showed they were smart enough to listen to customers and reverse themselves.

That's why I bought more Netflix stock on October 25th. plus.google.com/117373186752666867801/posts/Jhe4os472Wh

Since October 25th Netflix stock is up more than 16%.

I was not happy with the previous versions. Hope this one will do :)
