Web

This mosquito is not levitating without flying. It has purposely landed on the support threads of a spider web to keep itself safe from other potential predators. Snake Road, La Rue-Pine Hills Research Natural Area, Illinois, USA, October 12, 2023.

So chuffed, this is featured on the blog of the group Damn! I Wish I'd Taken That!!!.

This really needs viewing as large as you can, I was actually after a single twig of the Heather and the beautiful prurple bokeh behind it, then when I loaded it onto the PC I saw this amazing myriad of tiny little web strands virtually wrapping the flowers in silk, and thought what a bonus it looks quite nice. Seen in my garden.

Web in the morning

I was fascinated to see how fast this this tiny spider was able to fly around and make it's web so quickly, eight legs working in unison!

The willow hair is everywhere along the river at the moment, catching on webs. Too good an opportunity to miss :-)

I suspect the flies just get tickled to death on these webs at the moment :-)

Rain on spider web, another A99 test.

HMBT!

This frosty spider's web on a grubby fence is not as delicate looking as they usually are. I think the spider has decided to finish the web when the weather gets warmer, lol. Seen when I went shopping this morning.
