Here is where the missiles would be loaded, not unlike loading the rounds for artillery. Besides being armed with regular warheads, the Tomahawk can also carry a thermonuclear payload.

Eight of these things can be found on the Iowa, which would total 32 missiles ready for launch. The attack on the Syrian airbase last week had 59 Tomahawk missiles strike it. Either more than one ship fired missiles, the battleship that did launch them had more ABLs, or the ABLs were reloaded in the process of launching the missiles, although no crewmember wants to be that close when the missiles are launched from their ABLs, if you have seen the video of those things taking off.
These photos were part of a tour I had made of the Iowa with a friend back over three and a half years ago. I had been slow in posting them all -- which means I still haven't gotten them all up yet. This missile attack of last week reminded me about these launchers, so I went through my files and decided to share them here, after doing some cropping and tweaking on Photoshop.

En este caso lo q nos encontramops ante nuestros ojos es una antigua barberÃa... como se puede observar dado q no existÃan los clasicos pistones los habitantes barberos de la zona tenÃan lo que a priori una silla normal elevada en un tablón... pero nada más lejos de la realidad... ante vosotros se esta un instrumento de alta tecnologÃa... segun el afamado Dr. Bar Tolo famoso por su alcoholismo crónico, en el extremo opuesto de la silla el barbero solÃa usar un lugareño de gran peso y con problemas de flatulencia para graduar la altura de la silla... el lugareño tenÃa acoplado al agujero del culo o ano si se dice finamente un latiguillo usease una goma con una espita o palomilla en el otro extremo... esta palomilla se mantendrÃa más o menos cerrada en función del peso... es decir cuanto más peso más cerrada debÃa estar y viceversa... asemejandose a un globo aerostatico.... a consecuencia de este hecho y de los olores de las flatulencias del mismo durante esta temporada Sos se convirtió en el pueblo con mayor numero de gordos de la comarca...

In a statement to the conference, Ambassador Laura E. Kennedy, U.S. Special Representative for Biological Weapons Convention Issues, said "today’s biological weapons threat is a complex challenge, requiring a layered, nuanced and integrated response."

Like Alaska's own 103rd CST (WMD), the California team is comprised of Army and Air National Guardsmen, trained in NBC and hazardous material identification, assessment, and sampling. Their primary mission is to provide first responder support to civil authorities in matters of NBC, HAZMAT, and other major incidents. The week's training included a joint operations and casualty evacuation; suspected HAZMAT lab clearing; NBC training; and weapons familiariation.
