Weapons: un incubo che mente bene

Ieri sono andata a vedere Weapons di Zach Cregger. Fin dalla promozione – e persino in biglietteria – aleggiava l’idea che fosse una “storia vera”. È anche la prima cosa che sentiamo dalla voce narrante, con un tono che ricorda un racconto da campeggio al chiaro di luna… o meglio, di torce elettriche.

Eppure, per quanto venga dichiarato all’inizio e ribadito intorno al film, in realtà non lo è. Chiunque con un minimo di spirito critico, dopo averlo visto, può arrivare alla stessa conclusione: qui si tratta di un espediente narrativo per creare atmosfera. Personalmente, tutto ciò mi ha lasciata del tutto indifferente.

Il film, in realtà, nasce da un lutto del regista, che ha scritto la storia come un modo per elaborare la perdita improvvisa e tragica di una persona a lui molto cara. Le emozioni alla base del racconto sono autentiche, ma gli eventi sullo schermo sono pura finzione.

A me che una storia sia reale o no interessa poco: ciò che conta è come viene raccontata. Weapons l’ho trovato interessante, originale e ben costruito. Fa paura? Per niente. Anzi, ci sono momenti drammatici che scivolano in un’ilarità macabra, stemperando la tensione.

La prima parte è piuttosto “normale”, con un’inquietudine che aleggia sulla spedizione di dodici alunni di una scuola elementare, e un’impostazione che sembra da indagine. Apprezzo la scelta di mostrare la vicenda da più punti di vista, svelando segreti poco a poco.

La seconda metà, invece, accelera di colpo: ritmo sempre più concitato fino a un climax di splatter estremo. Non fa paura, ma regala uno spettacolo decisamente fuori dal comune.

In sintesi: piacevole, ben strutturato, coinvolgente e persino sensato – per quanto possa esserlo una storia così. E, cosa importante, dà risposte convincenti a tutti i misteri che mette in gioco. Promosso.

Weapons Qualification 2017 by 644th RSG

Every year, the 644th RSG conducts qualification on assigned weapons. This year during the mobilization at Fort Bliss, TX, Soldiers are qualifying on the 9mm Pistol - new to some Soldiers, but a great experience nonetheless and all have qualified!

Each week, a group of Soldiers travel to the 9mm range near McGregor. And remember it is still around 50 degrees in the morning! The qualification consists of some round for familiarization prior to the qualification. Then the qualification kicks off, with practice changing magazines and includes movement toward the targets. This is a key Soldier task that everyone must complete annually.
