WCF Fuels WU17UUK DAF CF seen on the A19, Jarrow (15/06/23)

This has been a long term WCF outlet but it was once a Jet site back in the 1980s, probably with one or two other brands in between, one of which was BFL. The only noticeably change throughout the Streetview shots back to 2009 is that the canopy has been painted white whereas it was earlier on blue. The sign arrangement is also a but unusual, there is a tiny WCF logo within the price board instead of a full size sign above it, but a full size sign side mounted onto the wall of the premises. It was like that when it was Jet branded.

Dan Lockton has a photo of it when BFL branded but with a Jet sign still in place too - see below. Richard has one from 2011, also added below to show how little it has changed.

I have photos from 2018 I'd previously taken, Ian Calvert also has photos of the garage from 2018 and looking at the dates we took them, I was here just five days after him!

As with many of the sites recently posted I was here both in the evening and the following morning.

This is another site which I visited late in the evening and then again the following morning. The dusk shots were quite moody but there's nothing like a daylight shot for showing detail. This site is slightly unusual for having a sign reading WCF Chandlers Fuels as a pose to a regular WCF sign. It had a normal WCF sign up to about four years ago. There's just the one dual fuel pump on site but I'm sure there were more in the past, probably three looking at the island.

In fact, now I bother to look for other images of this place, i see Ian Calvert posted an image of it from the 1980s when it was branded Avia and sure enough there were three pedestal pumps on the forecourt. In his photo the Avia branding is very basic and there's no actual mention of that brand name on the pole sign, in fact there's nothing on the pole sign apart from a price board, but there is an Avia sign on the building.

Richard too has a photo of the garage when it had the standard full WCF livery. Both can be seen below.

Looking for even older images it becomes clear that in Ian's 198os image, the garage had only just become Steve Wood Motors, they were established in 1984. I'm not sure who was the owner just before then, but certainly there's a very old images showing the garage was once called Youngs Garage, probably back in the 1930s. Throughout the timber frame frontage of the garage has remained.

St Pauls bus station,Walsall.

They are getting bigger and biggggger.....can't stop them XD

After being a Gulf site this rebranded to WCF which it remained under until the petrol station/cafe ceased trading towards the late 1990's.

It remained an open air forecourt until 1990 when the canopy was added but newer pumps were added before the canopy was built.

I'm not sure of the year in this photo but as 2 Star petrol is on the double side pump (yellow label) but would guess somewhere from 1980-86.

The single nozzle pump which strangely has a blue hose which doesn't match any of the other hoses seems to have the 4 Star grade sticker neatly cut in half so I'm actually wondering if this was actually 2 Star petrol on this pump which would make sense as this would later become the unleaded pump but not sure when unleaded petrol was introduced here although by 1988 Unleaded was only available at 11% of petrol stations.

Photo uploaded with kind permission from Linda Watkinson.

No Longer sell petrol, pumps removed.

This used to sell UK petrol.

Last SORN declaration expired in August 2017 and last MoT test expired in April 2016.

Has been branded WCF for at least 10 years and the only change is a new pump displaying the WCF/Chandlers branding.

WCF Fuels WU72KLE DAF CF seen on the A19, Jarrow (19/04/23)

Today I've reached another little landmark as I upload the 7,000th petrol station and garage photo! As a result it needed something a little special and this place in Wellingore is certainly a special garage with its fabulous architecture. Here we see it in the present day as a WCF branded site, before this it had been a Gulf site, before that a Butler site and before that a Q8. I don't have photos of it as a Gulf but luckily both Streetview and EYBusman do, in fact the only available view on Streetview is of it as a Gulf. Going even further back in time this garage was branded RP in the 1980's - which makes sense if it then became a Q8 - I found an image of an old matchbox label indicating it was RP on a Google search - in fact it was on Ebay and for sale so I have just bought it for £1.69! Below you can see it as all those other brands except RP and here as Gulf
