Taken while camping at Mormon Lake, Arizona (see campfire?). Blend taken from 2 photos.

Fire, storms, and the milky way band - shot near Mormon Lake in Arizona.

Trial and error here...mostly error. I'll need some tips on how to best capture bokeh in the future.

The past, the future - Upper Salt River, Arizona

Camping near Mormon Lake, Arizona on a cloudless Saturday night.

If George Lucas can do it, so can I. This is a blend of a pre-sunset shot capturing the foreground and post-sunset shot capturing the milky way cluster.

Light trail from an airplane heading into Phoenix.

Tempe town lake in the evening

Wanted to capture the palm trees and the "Do not cross tracks" sign behind the light rail. Nailed it. :-)

On my first trip to Asia, took a Christmas Day stop in Qatar. Quite an interesting way to spend Christmas. Spectacular opulent city in the middle of the desert, with humidity to boot. The people were welcoming and friendly. Wish that I had more time to explore.

Shot from the south rim of the Grand Canyon on a (really, really cold and) cloudless night. Stack of a bunch of 25 second exposure shots pulled into one composite. You can catch a glimpse of the Colorado River on the bottom corner. When taking these shots, it was just me and one other person in this part of the canyon. The cool thing about that fact was that the only sound that could be heard (besides the occasional airplane) was the sound of the Colorado River thrashing against the canyon walls below.

Selective color shot taken at visit to Mesa Air Museum with my father.

Taking long exposure shots on a chilly fall night in Indianapolis. I hope to visit again because I later found a few really good places to shoot from at night.

Something a little different than my typical shots. The highest quality Kentucky bourbon.

Took a lot of effort to pull this shot. I wanted to land this birdie on a small stone with a flower instead of the large boulders that it usually perches upon. Took me around 5 days of daily driving around 80KMs everyday to this place in Himachal Pradesh and waiting every morning for a couple of hours. All worth the effort in the end.

heading back up to the Marlborough sounds for an extended weekend and an opportunity to stretch the legs again in our stunning backcountry.. The weather is suggesting we might be in a for a bit more drama and a bit less sunbathing this trip :)

This shot was made over new year back at the start of 2019, it's a view looking out from Mt Stokes

One of the last opportunities for me this year to get out for an astro shoot. This time with an enthusiastic bunch from Greymouth Photography Club and pretty much perfect conditions :)

Caught a few shots of this fella as he was gliding through the sky and swooping down on a mountain for some mid-afternoon snacking. Any idea whether he is a vulture or something else? My neighbor thinks he might be a red tailed hawk, but I have had a turkey vulture around recently too.

UPDATE: All of my neighbors agree - red tailed hawk.

This brooding Christmas eve sunset in Phoenix reminded me of one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs, so the photo now shares the name of the song. Things have gone. Things will come. The beginning is the end is the beginning.
