Wijk aan Zee is a small town on the coast of the North Sea in the municipality of Beverwijk in the province of North Holland of the Netherlands.

Due to its seaside location, Wijk aan Zee has become a popular destination among tourists.

Wijk aan Zee is also called the best-kept secret of the North Sea coast. The family seaside resort offers the widest sand beach of the Netherlands by far and it is beautifully located next to the Dune reserve of North Holland. It is known as one of the better surfing spots at the North Sea coast.

This is what we saw during our Cycling holiday in Noord-Holland, the Netherlands, where we have cycled through the beautiful landscape.

Camsur Watersports Complex Camarines Sur Bicol August 2008

Het dorp is in de Middeleeuwen ontstaan als een streekdorp aan de sloot die vanaf Oudegaasterbrekken naar de Schuttelpoel liep. De uitgroei tot komdorp begon in de 19e eeuw, met de opkomst van de watersport.

Het werd in tweede helft van de 13e eeuw in een vervalst document uit 1132 vermeld als Aldekerke. In een ander document uit diezelfde eeuw, een kopie van een document uit 1245 werd het vermeld als Aldakerke.

In 1398 werd het vermeld als uoldegae, in 1399 als Oldega, in 1399 als Oldenkerc en in 1505 als Oldegae. Oorspronkelijk wees de plaatsnaam naar het feit dat het bij een oudere kerk was gelegen. Later is dat verschoven naar de betekenis dat het ouder dorp (ga) was.

Nearing the end of my project covering a group of professional jetski riders giving a demonstration as part of a fundraiser for a local animal shelter in Western NY.

Tech Specs: Olympus OM-D e-M1.2 with the m.Zuiko 40-150mm f2.8 Pro lens and TC1.4 teleconverter (handheld). ISO200 | 1/800 | 210mm | f4.

Post Processing: The heavy lifting was done by On1 Photo RAW 2020.2 with a roundtrip to Nik Silver Efex Pro for the mono conversion and film emulation.
