I have often ridden past these two frolicking mermaids - who seem a bit out of place in a Bavarian farming village. Today I stopped for a picture. This is in front of a stonemason's workshop, it must be his work. Next door is the church graveyard where probably many of the headstones originate from this stonemason. Perhaps this Neptunian scene is also destined to be a headstone.
The Fontana delle Naidi, or Fountain of the Naiads (water nymphs) in the Piazza della Repubblica, Rome. The piazza features a large roundabout with a beautiful fountain in the center, featuring 4 Naiads. Close to Roma termini, it is an interesting square with several large buildings and the nearby Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
And though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea ....
The River Severn, the longest river in the UK, takes its rise nine miles to the west of Llanidloes high up on the slopes of Pumlumon, the highest point in the central range of the Cambrian Mountains. The Roman name for the Severn (the Hafren in Welsh) was Sabrina, and ancient myth tells Sabrina was one of three sisters, all water nymphs, who met on Pen Pumlumon to discuss how they might wend their way to the sea. Each sister took a different route, Ystwyth to the west and Varga (the Wye) away to the south, while Sabrina who loved the land, set out on a slow meandering course that led her far into the east. The spirit of Sabrina still resides in the sparkling waters of the river and nowhere is her benevolent presence more apparent than here, where she first set forth upon her long journey to the sea.

One last go with the oil and water mix before I tear it all down.
This one was fun, I played around with creative lighting and one of my wife's dolls from her collection. I Placed the doll under, but up against the glass bowl. I had to shoot at f32 to get just enough focus on the doll, while at the same time getting the oil blobs in focus. I tried focus stacking, but it just didn't work as well as a single shot. I gave the oil a stir, waited a minute and fired off a few shots.
I showed the image to my wife, and she said oooh, in mythology, a Water Nymph. So, the title was born... LOL

Denise as the goddess on the lake ! I attempted this idea last year. My self-portrait with the photoshop stars.
We got down to the lake just in time for the sunset and snapped some pics in the soft evening glow. Then we bundled up and waited for the stars and city lights to come out while leaving the tripod in the exact same spot, taking more photos into the evening. This picture is actually 4 images composed together to achieve the day and night effect

Thanks to the lovely and encouraging facebook peers, I decided to upload this to flickr. While it is extremely similar to the one I posted before, I thought it had it's own unique properties.
And the real reason why I'm posting to flickr is to announce that I am doing a print auction to raise money for the Lupus foundation. I am auctioning off my print titled "6am Observation", a 16X16" limited edition, signed print on fine art matte paper. It will be edition 1/1 in honor of the cause. All proceeds will be donated to the Lupus Foundation of America.
You can bid on the print here!

The Freyung Passage, also sometimes referred to as the Ferstel Passage, is an upscale arcade built by the Austrian architect Heinrich von Ferstel in 1860. The marble-clad passage with pilasters and vaulted ceiling is lined with luxury stores.
The passage leads past a small inner courtyard covered by a hexagonal glass dome. A six meter (20ft) tall fountain, also designed by Heinrich von Ferstel, occupies the center of the courtyard. At the top of the fountain is a statue of the Donaunixen (Danube waternymph), who holds a fish in her hand.
At the end of the 1970s the arcade was in decline and shops started to leave. After a thorough renovation during the following decade, the shopping arcade came back to life and it is now an elegant sight. www.aviewoncities.com/vienna/freyungpassage.htm

I've always loved this picture. Makes me laugh. Thinking about jumping into the lake during a forest fire and trying to take a self-portrait. All after my ACL knee surgery. It wasn't the best idea to take a self-portrait in the water with a recovering knee. Nevertheless, the results are stunning.

I met Celeste through Instagram! I had a lovely time showing her Christine Falls in West Kelowna! I'm excited to go on more adventures with this chick! More excited to shred the mountain with her in the winter!

A quick visit on a mizzly day. Due to the small catchment, this creek only flows after rain so it was a treat to catch it like this.
From my Ophelia series. This work is now exhibited in gallery Wildevuur, Hooghalen in Holland.
The exposition will move to the museum "De 5000 morgen" in Hoogeveen on the 7th of March 2015

Mental health is something I've never talked about on my Flickr. Many individuals suffer from a mental health disorder. If someone has an MH disorder, this does not mean they're dangerous, stupid, or slow. The stigma associated with MH disorders is a real phenomenon. Treating people with respect and dignity is important. If you know someone suffering from a mental health disorder, then be supportive by offering a non-judgemental ear.

I owe a huge thanks to Alex Currie for helping immensely with these shots! I had been planning on using a trigger and tripod, but there is no way it would have worked out with the slippery shale terrain and torrents of mist coming off the waterfall so he stepped in to take the photo.
Also, being this close to the waterfall felt more like swimming than breathing.
The Rappenlochschlucht with this waterfall is one of the largest canyons in middle europe, created by the breakthrough of the Ebniter Ache through the chalk clay mountains of the Bregenzer Wood in Austria.
