From time to time I like to challenge myself. In this case it was about photographing the steam given off by the water kettle.

For this I used a Nikon Z8 camera and a Meyer Optik Görlitz Biotar 75mm F1.5 II lens, which has completely manual operation, both in focus and diaphragm aperture.

Since the room was dark the exposure time was going to be longer than one second, in this case 1.6 seconds, I attached the camera to a tripod, used a remote shutter release and deactivated the IBIS stabilization.

I set the sensitivity to ISO 64

To illuminate the vapor trail beam I used an LED flashlight and opened the diaphragm halfway, at an aperture of F5.6.

At first I had used the maximum aperture (F1.5) but what occurs in many lenses of this type: a chromatic aberration towards a green tone.

The rest is a slight repair with Lightroom and Photoshop.

De vez en cuando me gusta ponerme desafíos. En este caso se trataba de fotografiar el vapor que despide la tetera.

Para he usado una cámara Nikon Z8 y una lente Meyer Optik Görlitz Biotar 75mm F1.5 II, que tiene un manejo totalmente manual, tanto en el enfoque como en la apertura de diafragma.

Dado que al estar la habitación a oscuras el tiempo de exposición iba a ser superior a un segundo, en este caso de 1,6 segundos, acoplé la cámara a un trípode, usé un disparador remoto y desactivé la estabilización del IBIS.

Ajusté la sensibilidad a ISO 64

Para iluminar el haz de la estela de vapor usé una linterna LED y el diafragma lo abrí a medias, a una apertura de F5.6.

Al principio había usado la máxima apertura (F1.5) pero se produce lo que en muchas lentes de este tipo: una aberración cromática hacia tono verde.

El resto es un ligero repaso con Lightroom y Photoshop.

Went with a group to learn about the Japanese Tea Ceremony today. The graceful ladies showing us the ceremony didn't want their pictures to be published so this is an object mosaic only. The water must be boiled just right, the flower arrangement needs to look as if the flowers are in the field, the scroll needs to have been chosen for the very occasion, and the tea needs to be whisked frothy while thinking of the guest for whom the tea is.

all over the place in those high altitudes. i am not sure why they are so much more popular up there though. maybe because the combination of long boiling time (water boils at a lower point) and intense solar heat make them economical...

Darmstadt war seit dem 16. Jh. Hauptsitz der Landgrafen von Hessen-Darmstadt . Sein Ruf als Zentrum des Jugendstils geht auf die 1899 von Großherzog Ernst Ludwig eingerichtete Künstlerkolonie auf der Mathildenhöhe zurück. Darmstadt wurde im 2 . Weltkrieg zu 80% zerstört und gilt heute mit der Technischen Universität und zwei Fachhochschulen als Wissenschaftsstadt.

Das Museum befindet sich in dem Ende der achtziger Jahre rekonstruierten Ernst-Ludwig Haus, dem gemeinschaftlichen Ateliergebäude der Künstlergruppe, das ab 1900 nach Plänen von Joseph Maria Olbrich errichtet worden war. Das im Mai 1990 eröffnete Museum dokumentiert die 15jährige Geschichte der Darmstädter Künstlergemeinschaft von 1899 bis 1914 und gibt einen Überblick über die Werke ihrer 23 Mitglieder.

The new cordless water kettle purchased to replace the workhouse that went kaput. It's pretty and everything; and, sure you can watch the water boil; but, it just doesn't seem as solid to me. But whatever, as long as it boils water, right?

I had seen him before - spurting away and sliding on it's tiny paws, like in Tom and Jerry. Hiding under my waterkettle.

I found him under my washing machine. There had been some smell that I couldn't localize; by now he was almost mummified.

I may have clicked the auto adjust a few times, but I tried to leave him alone as much as I could.
