Back to my Iceland shots, as I've not had much time to go out with my camera this week. I just loved the colour of the sky this particular morning!
Life is a waterfall
And what comes down goes around
And never did we realize
That's the way we are
I'm thinking about the good not the bad
And never did we realize
And what comes
And what comes
And what comes, wondering this
And what comes, wondering this
I've been spending my
Life is a waterfall
And what comes down goes around
And never did we realize
That's the way we are
I'm thinking about the good not the bad
And never did we realize
I've been spending my days by those little waterfalls
I've been watching those drops full with sunlight
I've been spending my time on the side with the grass
And I've been thinking about my life and where it all leads
Life is a waterfall
And what comes down goes around
And never did we realize
That's the way we are
I'm thinking about the good not the bad
And never did we realize
I'll be spending my days always think about my life
If it's right or if it ends up wrong now
And I'll be looking out left and the right
And I know I've been standing in the middle of a crater
Life is a waterfall
And what goes down comes around and never did we realize
It's the way we are, I think about the good not the bad
And never did we realize
“Goðafoss Waterfall is nicknamed the “Waterfall of the Gods.” Some believe that the name comes from the fact that the waterfall is god-like in beauty. However, an old Icelandic legend tells the tale of the waterfall’s name through a Viking leader named Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði.
Þorgeir is said to have had thrown his Pagan statues into the waterfall, resulting in its name. No one really knows the accurate story of the waterfall’s name but leaving it as a mystery might also play a part in keeping it mythic.” It’s a beautiful, magical spot in Iceland, which is a country full of amazing scenes. The falls can’t be seen from this viewpoint, but I loved this part because it looked to me like the back of a mighty dragon rising up out of the river.

This was one of my favorite photos of Iceland and of the whole year. The beauty of this amazing country was so evident in this particular photo that I was happy to display it one more time. I hope you enjoy it, too!
Located on the western edge of the Eyjafjöll volcano, the Seljalandsfoss waterfall comes from the Seljalandsá river, which is formed by the melting ice of the Eyjafjallajökull. Once it reaches the edge of the plateau, the water falls into the void over a chasm for around 65 metres.
Madakaripura Waterfall is a waterfall located in the hamlet branggah, Negororejo village, subdistrict Lumbang , Probolinggo , Province of East Java . This waterfall is one of the waterfalls in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. 200-meter high waterfall is the highest waterfall on the island of Java and the second highest in Indonesia
The unusual Dreimühlen waterfall takes its name from the neighbouring Dreimühlen castle ruins. Located in the middle of the Kalkeifel, between Nohn and Ahütte, the Dreimühlen waterfall is a special highlight of this popular hiking region. At twelve metres wide and up to six metres deep, it is more of a wide waterfall than a high one. The picturesque feature, however, is above all the heavily moss-covered limestone rocks over which the water makes its way here.
Orekhovsky Waterfall is the second highest waterfall in Sochi. It is located on the Bezumenka River at its confluence with the Sochi River in the Khostinsky district[1].
The name comes from the nearby farm Orekhovka. Before the October Revolution, the waterfall was called Mill.
The waterfall has two stages. The lower stage is the most visited and the most beautiful has a height of 27.5 m. The waterfall is a natural monument of national importance. An oak-chestnut forest grows around the waterfall, there is an evergreen boxwood, a Pontic rhododendron, a walnut grove nearby.[2]
During the spring snowmelt, you can hear this raging waterfall all the way back at the first campground, but during fall, it's as quiet as a mouse.
This year was beautifully peaceful and quiet. I got to this spot early just so I cloud sit by the waterfall and spend some time in thought.
The Pendleton waterfall can be reached by following the trail starting from the back of Pendleton lake in Blackwater State Park. After about 0.3 miles you need to leave the main trail and the fun starts. To me this has been one of the most challenges waterfall to reach. You need to go down along a very steep barely traced trace to the first waterfall, than things are getting even worse to get to the lower one. I did few steps on my butt to get there and I think this is not a place you can get if it has rained just few hours before. Saying that this is also one of the waterfall I loved more. I have been there by myself for a couple of hours and just enjoy the nature and had my "zen" moment. Too bad you have to come back up through the same very steep trace.... (-:
Waterfalls, walks and wonders in the Catlins
A wonderful world of waterfalls, sea caves, coastal cliffs, rocky headlands, the Catlins is nature lover and walker paradise with amazing places to explore.
The Catlins is blessed with some spectacular waterfalls. The most famous of these is Pūrākaunui Falls - a magnificent waterfall surrounded by bush that cascades 20 metres over three distinct tiers. The waterfall is a short walk from a side road off the main Owaka-Invercargill highway.
Goðafoss is a waterfall in northern Iceland. It is located along the country's main ring road at the junction with the Sprengisandur highland road, about 45 minutes from Akureyri, Iceland's second largest city. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 metres over a width of 30 metres. A 1.8-mile hiking trail loops around the waterfall area
The origin of the waterfall's name is not completely clear. In modern Icelandic, the name can be read either as "waterfall of the goð (pagan idols)" or "waterfall of the goði (chieftain)." Linguist and placename expert Svavar Sigmundsson suggests that the name derives from two crags at the falls which resemble pagan idols. In 1879-1882, a myth was published in Denmark according to which the waterfall was named when the lawspeaker Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði made Christianity the official religion of Iceland in the year 999 or 1000. Upon returning home from the Alþingi, Þorgeir supposedly threw his statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall. However, although the story of Þorgeir's role in the adoption of Christianity in Iceland is preserved in Ari Þorgilsson's Íslendingabók, no mention is made of Þorgeir throwing his idols into Goðafoss. The legend appears to be a nineteenth-century fabrication. Nevertheless, a window in Akureyrarkirkja, the main church at Akureyri, illustrates this story.
MS Goðafoss, an Icelandic ship named after the waterfall, used to transport both freight and passengers. It was sunk by a German U-Boat in World War II, resulting in great loss of life.
In 2020, the waterfall was granted protected status.
One of the less clearly sign-posted waterfalls in Wales. I had to follow guide notes on various websites to find it. There was a good path and a bridge though. So I think that they wanted people to visit.
The mountains of the Napali coast, and Mount Waialeale in particular, are among the world rainiest places and are constantly covered with numerous waterfalls.
At a height of 740 meters (2,425 feet) Yosemite Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in North America. I captured this image from the valley floor during early morning as the moon was setting over the horizon.
This beautiful waterfall in the Valley Of Desolation near Bolton Abbey stands around 10m high and is hidden away that you wouldn't know it was there. A lovely peaceful spot on a summers day.
This Waterfall and volcanic ash beach are near the 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull which caused enormous disruption to air travel across western and northern Europe over an initial period of six days in April 2010. Eyjafjallajökull is more easily pronounced as E15 (E + 15 syllables).
Skógafoss is a waterfall situated in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. After the coastline had receded seaward (it is now at a distance of about 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) from Skógar), the former sea cliffs remained, parallel to the coast over hundreds of kilometres, creating together with some mountains a clear border between the coastal lowlands and the Highlands of Iceland.
The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a width of 25 metres (82 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days. According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. The legend continues that locals found the chest years later, but were only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again. The ring was allegedly given to the local church. The old church door ring is now in a museum, though whether it gives any credence to the folklore is debatable.
At the eastern side of the waterfall, a hiking and trekking trail leads up to the pass Fimmvörðuháls between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. It goes down to Þórsmörk on the other side and continues as the famous Laugavegur to Landmannalaugar. (Source - Wikipedia)
