Silver Falls State Park, Marion County, Oregon. Close up of the bottom half of the lower South Falls. This park is a waterfall lover's dream with ten falls over an 8.7 mile stretch of looping trails. We visited a little past peak foliage and it was just a quick stop on the way back to Portland, but still plenty of color in the trees and along the trail. Only visited two of the falls but from what we saw this place is definitely worth a visit of a few days or more.

Takakkaw Falls is a magnificent waterfall in Yoho National Park, Canada. One unique feature is that after a drop of about 25 metres, the water hits a protruding rock and shoots out as much as 50 metres.
This photo is taken from an easy hike along the creek but the spray from the falls is a real challenge. Even from this viewpoint, I was wiping the filter and then taking photos as quick as possible before it was covered with water drops again.
We walked right up beside the falls and got good and wet. Anyone who is a waterfall lover that goes to Banff Park needs to take the side trip into British Columbia to see Takakkaw.
I got to go on an overnighter with the family down to Pacifiic City last weekend. Easily my favorite beach on the coast. This shot was inspired by my bud Aaron Reed. I must have watched the waves crash for 20 min. before I ventured out there. I told Walter it looked safe but keep an eye out for sweepers. I set up and Walter decides to test out my safety theory and screams at me to run! 2 seconds flat I'm back up on the bluff with my camera in hand. "Where the hell is the wave" I scream!!!! Just makin sure you can hear me he says. I took alot of frames with waves that crashed well above that distant stack but I guess the waterfall lover in me just loves the aftermath of cascading water after the crash. Happy Waterfall Wednesday and thanks for stoppin by.
pronounced [ˈskouː(ɣ)aˌfɔsː], Skógá = Wald, Foss = Waterfall meaning the waterfall of the river that origins from the (not anymore existing) forest
The path to the lower viewing platform was closed due to icing hence no tourists obstructed the view on this beautiful scene.
Thanks to Sigríður Tómasdóttir this waterfall still exists. It was due to her efforts that plans to build a hydrological dam that would have resulted in the submergence of Gullfoss were given up.

The Grot is a small, picturesque building or viewing station located on the grounds of Rydal Hall in the Lake District, overlooking a waterfall.
It was built in 1668 by Sir Daniel Fleming and designed as a place to frame and enjoy the spectacular Rydal Falls, reflecting the Romantic and Picturesque movements in art and literature.
The poet William Wordsworth, who lived nearby at Rydal Mount, was a tenant on the Rydal Estate and was familiar with the Grot and the grounds of Rydal Hall.
Latourell Falls is the closest of the Columbia Gorge waterfalls to Portland. It's just barely visible from the highway, but a short jaunt up a steep paved path leads to a clear viewpoint. A walk down a different path leads to the base of the falls. Latourell Falls, a 249' plunge, is beautiful in all seasons. In the summer, the water flow is very low, creating near misty conditions. In the winter, the splash freezes everywhere.
The most interesting hike is a 2.4 mile loop visiting Latourell Falls, Upper Latourell Falls and Guy Talbot Park.
Latourell is unique among the best-known Columbia Gorge waterfalls, in the way that it drops straight down from an overhanging basalt cliff. At the falls, the lichen-covered columnar basalt formations around the falls steal the show. It is an easy hike to the base families, seniors or handicapped. I am always enchanted watching the misting fluctuations of falling water. Oregon is a waterfall lover's dream come true.
PS: Ask Google, Siri, Alexa, Spotify and Amazon to play some music by JOHN WILLIAM HAMMOND -(use all 3 names) a nice variety of folk, inspirational, some jazz, childrens, a bit of county and fun songs too.
There are at least 1,000 waterfalls in Iceland -- it's a waterfall lover's paradise. This one is off the beaten path a bit, though IcelandAir is using it in an ad.
The Siouxan Creek Trail is a 6.8 mile-long waterfall lover's delight in Skamania County, Washington. This is Horseshoe Creek Falls, the first major waterfall you come to along the well-groomed U.S. Forest Service trail.
The river Seljalandsá having its source from the glacier Eyjafjallajökull drops down here 66m over the edge of the volcanic rock cliff into a basin. Pronounced [ˈsɛljalantsˌfɔsː]
- Lucius Annaeus Seneca.

After visiting Smith Rock for sunrise we headed back to the Three Sisters wilderness to see Lower Proxy Falls. This waterfall is often regarded as one of the most picturesque in Oregon. The hike to the falls is quite long and leads up to a view point through a very narrow path. But the elevation gain is only slight and most part of the hike is covered. Once you reach the viewpoint you will have to scramble through a steep slope to get to the base of the falls. Once you get to the base of the falls it’s difficult not to get impressed by the sheer size of this beautiful waterfall with its 226 ft vertical drop.
We spent quite a bit of time here enjoying the amazing falls and vivid greens of the forest. This is another must visit location for any waterfall lover.
