Just realized today is my last day of being in my 30s--turn 40 tomorrow. So I had to document it. Took this while watching the Colbert Report with my son Elijah just now with my cell phone. (Two shots I combined in Photoshop.) Elijah's birthday was last week--he turned 16.
I asked him to write me a doom metal song for my birthday, so he did. I need to videotape him playing it so I have it always. Doom metal is pretty easy and simple. His exact words: "The song is 5 minutes long, and I spent 6 minutes writing it." (That includes drums, guitar and bass.)

Those not familiar with the area should know that "Lower Nob Hill" is the name the thieves in the real estate industry (Donald Trump is in the real estate industry and that tells you all you have to know about it) have given to large sections of the Tenderloin and Polk Gulch, which, for many, many years have been down and out neighborhoods.

Ever since the day she was born, Jessie has had the most beautiful eyelashes. I was finally able to capture a good shot of them while she was watching TV. It's the only way I can get a shot like this. Can you imagine putting a macro lens 8 inches from a three year old kid's eye and having them hold still if they weren't distracted by television? Good luck.

OK this is a pretty personal shot for me. We have this print hanging on the wall in our home. For a while now, i've been wanting to do a version of it, and have been saving up the props.
I had lots of fun doing this and playing around with the lights, i'd actually like to get more experimental with my lights. so this set up was cool.
