A pair of WT Alco RS1's are doing their thing on a milky day in the nation's capitol. Amtrak 1454 was built from a US Army hospital car into a crew dorm, and eventually into an HEP car.

There's a lot to see beyond the fence that surrounds this old abode, but mostly it's just a typical Nevada County rural residence, where there's a place for everything, and the place for it, is basically lying around haphazardly on your property--usually where you used it last-- until you might need it again. Whenever that might be and I'm sure the owner knows exactly where everything is.

Happy Fence Friday everyone

The Washington Monument in Washington DC.

While in Washington D.C. last week my primary interest was shooting street shots but I could not resist a few typical tourist shots too.

We had a meeting planned in Washington, D.C., several years ago but almost everything was shut down because of an inch and a half of slushy snow.

Had my Nikon D700 with me, but the IPhone image somehow turned out better!

It may rained six months out of the year, but when the sun shines, PNW is a paradise for sure. It’s green it’s mild in temperature and so diverse. Mt. Adam on the horizon with the top covered with clouds. Nature heals

"Flickr Lounge" "I Photographed this because...", I liked the pattern of the stairs and crumbling surfaces - color version in the comments for comparison.

Taken from the Lincoln Memorial at dawn. It's always hard to get photographs of iconic buildings without the 'clutter' of other people to 'spoil' the shot. At this time of the day there was no one else within the Lincoln Memorial.

Texas has many beautiful areas but Washington County is one of my favorites...

Nothwest Trek Wildlife Park - Eatonville, Washington

Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States located north of Oregon, west of Idaho and south of the Canadian province of British Columbia, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Washington was carved out of the western part of Washington Territory which had been ceded by Britain in 1846 by the Oregon Treaty as settlement of the Oregon Boundary Dispute. It was admitted to the Union as the 42nd state in 1889.

This picturesque stone manor house and its gardens are situated in the heart of historic Washington village, near Sunderland in north-east England. The building incorporates parts of the original mediaeval home of the family of George Washington, first President of the United States, and it is from here that the family took their surname.

This is a colour shot that has been converted to mono using the 'Antique Plate II' preset from Silver Efex Pro, a preset I'm trying very hard not to over-use as it's rapidly becoming my favourite preset from the Nik Collection, the best... er... NO pounds I ever spent!
