This cute lighthouse is located at the southern end of Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, California.
Have a safe and happy weekend my friends!
Walton Lighthouse is a modern lighthouse constructed on a man-made jetty. Tetrapods protect the breakwater leading to the lighthouse at the entrance to the Santa Cruz Harbour in California.
It was interesting for me to notice the lighthouse have a green band day mark which matches its green beacon.
A night scene of the Walton lighthouse in Santa Cruz, California is a breakwater lighthouse. It is known by the Walton name because Charles Walton, a businessman contributed a significant part of the construction cost in memory of his late brother.
The lighthouse is located at the northern end of Monterey Bay, Santa Cruz Harbor. The harbor is a haven for fishing craft and vessels. A harbor light, located at the west jetty, has marked its entrance for forty years.
This is a commission for Victor and Walton - thank you guys for your patience! It was so much fun to work on this picture. I hope you'll like how this turned out (*´▽`*)
If I haven't been seeing your photos lately it's because I have a family member who has a terminal illness and have been preoccupied. I did manage to get out last evening in Santa Cruz. It felt good to be out. Nature is so healing!
I loved the evening I spent watching the sunset at the Walton Lighthouse. In this view I wanted a flatter ocean to bring more attention to the lighthouse but I liked how the waves were running up on the shore in different directions. I waited until the waves had crashed and come in and just starting to intersect. I decided on a shutter speed that would capture some texture in the waves but still shot some movement but not blur them too much. Of course, the save I was standing in was moving much faster, so it has a little more motion blur. I hope you enjoy and feel free to let me know what you think.
On the rare occasion I come across a landscape that seems surreal. This was my experience on a recent hike of the Walton shoreline. Exploration of the area revealed massive dunes of sand neatly carved out row upon row continuing past the horizon. Many contained a valley of water and seashells left behind by the receded tides. These dunes were like nothing I have seen before here in the province.
A Walton lighthouse was built in 1873 and still marks its presence along the coastline. The Walton Lighthouse aided ships into the port of Walton for many years until the shipping industry declined in the 1970s and now the lighthouse is a heritage landmark of Nova Scotia.
Taken in Glencoe, Scotland. Three climbers about to take the path up into the three sisters mountain range.
The highest mountain in the old county of Argyll, Bidean nam Bian is the whole majestic range of mountains on the south side of Glen Coe. It's dramatic northern ridges are known as the Three Sisters, whilst the highest summits of the group are hidden away behind.
TERRAIN
Steep, rocky and complex terrain. There are well-worn paths for much of the route (indistinct for route up Stob Coire nan Lochan) but the terrain is very rocky and there are sections of steep scree and very mild scrambling. The descent from Bealach Dearg is initially very steep and loose. It usually holds snow until well into summer, making it even more difficult - be prepared for this or save this route for when the snow is gone

Took this shot of the Walton Lighthouse while hanging with my son and dad. Both excellent photographers.

In from the long haul -- must have been a long flight as this is a Canada Goose and Canada is a good few thousand miles away (3 to 4 thousand depending where in Canada ) .
Spotted from the bridge over the entrance from the River Thames into Walton Marina and the goose here was heading up to the entrance into Shepperton Marina .
This was my first outing with my newly acquired 100-400mm lens, which has replaced my life expired 75-300mm. The bigger lens has not just given me an extra 100mm in focal length, but there is a quantam leap in picture quality. I am not an equipment obsessive, but this lens is a game changer for my photography and it has made me see the landscape in a whole new light. The only slight down side is the heavy weight of the lens and it can be tricky to fix in place on the head of my Manfrotto 055 when used in the portrait position. However, these are small prices to pay for the upgrade in quality.
In Schuyler Virgina, the home of Earl Hamner who wrote the Waltons television series. A very similar house was used for the TV show. Late afternoon sun lit up some of the upstairs rooms which I thought was pretty cool. By the time we arrived here the house was closed to tours but we did sit up on the porch for a spell for a bit of a chat. Until we noticed the security camera watching us. The old truck in the yard was pretty neat. They removed the handles off the doors of it so Anita wasn't able to get in it! LOL
The Walton Building, and the street it sits on, is named for Dr. D.T. Walton Sr., a local dentist and prominent Civil Rights activist. This building housed the epitome of successful African American business in the area. Multiple businesses were housed in the building from the original Dewit Walton the dentist to Dixie Tobacco and Candy. However, the building truly flourished thanks to the Dixon John Radio Service and J L Montgomery Home Art Supply bringing city wide recognition to the district and this building in particular.
