Built by Duke Ernst-August of Saxony-Weimar on top of a mountain near the town Ilmenau, this building was also visited by Goethe, who was not only Ernst-August´s best friend, but also, as minister, responsible for the state´s everyday affairs (streets, industry, agriculture, woods).
Today there is a museum in this house, and it is one of the most lovely ones that I know. You enter the rooms, and you have a feeling of being at home. A good ghost lives in this house!
Went for an epic Ikea shopping trip on Friday, as Spring cleaning has begun and our house needs some more modern touches.
I was seriously impressed with these lamps.
Maybe not for my home, but they make for a damn cool photo!

I have built many modern style interiors recent years, but this is a jump to the older style.
Building the staircase wasn't the easiest task! It needed many trials before I found good solutions.
A wall lamp in a dark stairwell in a museum (the stairs led down to the basement). I liked the symmetrical and almost semi-circular cone of light that could be seen on the wall of the stairwell.

A kerosene lamp (usually called a paraffin lamp in some countries) is a type of lighting device that uses kerosene (paraffin) as a fuel. Kerosene lamps have a wick or mantle as light source, protected by a glass chimney or globe; lamps may be used on a table, or hand-held lanterns may be used for portable lighting. Like oil lamps, they are useful for lighting without electricity, such as in regions without rural electrification, in electrified areas during power outages, at campsites, and on boats. There are three types of kerosene lamp: flat wick, central draught (tubular round wick), and mantle lamp. Kerosene lanterns meant for portable use have a flat wick and are made in dead flame, hot blast, and cold blast variants.
