These bees sleep hanging by their mandibles. The muscles are arranged so the mandibles are closed at rest. I know this one is waking up, because it's legs are extended and holding on.
Late last "summer" I had to dig up most of my rhubarb as part of garden rennovations. I had a go at saving and moving a couple of baby crowns as I basically had to pull to pieces the old established bits. Anyway, I've noticed this weekend that both seem to be waking up which was nice to see.
