Auf dem Vulkan Villarica, Südchile. - En la cumbre del volcán Villarica, Sur de Chile. - Villarica volcano, southern Chile - 2006.
In 1730 a simultaneous eruption of 30 craters affected one third of the island, burying villages and covering much of the most fertile land with a 33 feet thick layer of lava. The eruptions and the devastation were to last for 6 years.
The name of this vulcano is unknown to me. I approached and climbed it with the kite and camera above me.
Links voor de Rother Hecke (510 m), rechts achter de Rother Kopf (560 m). Twee uitgedoofde vulkanen. Op de voorgrond Gerolstein.
Der Scharnhauser Vulkan ist der nördlichste Vulkanschlot des schwäbischen Vulkans. Weitgehend unter der Erde gelegen sind ist vor allem eine leichte Senke in der Landschaft erkennbar.
Der fruehe Vogel sieht den Sonnenaufgang, oder auch nicht :(

Das Bild zeigt eine detaillierte Nahaufnahme eines dunklen, rauen Vulkangesteins, wahrscheinlich Basalt oder ein ähnliches magmatisches Gestein, das im Teide Nationalpark auf Teneriffa gefunden wurde. Die Oberfläche ist stark strukturiert mit kleinen Spalten und Vorsprüngen, die an einigen Stellen Licht reflektieren und ihr ein leicht schimmerndes Aussehen verleihen. Die Farben reichen von tiefem Anthrazitgrau bis Schwarz, mit gelegentlichen helleren, sandfarbenen Sprenkeln und Streifen, möglicherweise Mineralablagerungen oder verwitterte Bereiche. Der Hintergrund ist sanft unscharf, was auf weitere Felsen oder den Boden in der Ferne hindeutet. Der Gesamteindruck ist der einer rauen, natürlichen Schönheit und geologischen Formation.
Es ist ein Gebiet nahe dem Vulkan Hekla im Südwesten von Island. Es liegt in der Gemeinde Rangárþing ytra, 180 km östlich von Reykjavík. Die unter Naturschutz stehende Gegend gilt als eine der schönsten der Insel, was sie den zahlreichen vulkanischen Erscheinungen und den sehr farbigen Bergen zu verdanken hat.

Ripping a 1-km-long fissure in a field of ice, the eruption was about 120km (75 miles) east of the capital, Reykjavik.
