There were two official photographers and one video man (the one on the left with a flash and the one with tripod, I am one of the official photographer). There was another freelance photographer beside me. At one point the performance on the stage attracted a lot of attention, it was great, sadly my 30mm f1.4 lens although work great for low light condition, I could not get the performers expression. I then turn around and saw this spectacular scene --- a group of papparazi !!! Anyway, I quickly go forward and turn around taking their pictures instead. It turned out beautifully, I think I captured the atmosphere successfully. Some photographers look serious but using a compact camera, whereas the official photographer looks relax and happy, this contrast makes the photo. In addition to that, I like the smiling face of the photographer on the right, he was indeed enjoying the moment

**Below, I wrote about popularity. I'm writing in the middle of my son/cats/husband/mom-on-phone, so it's kind of jumbled, so I'll probably rewrite it for the blog later. For now, pretty please head over here and add a "thumbs-up" for the blog "AZ Writer?" If you don't feel like reading the rest of this that's OK. Or if you don't wanna vote either, just look at the pretty picture.**
I'm on this list (the one in which I'm begging for votes; see above link) and I'd like to get at least part of the way up it, because, you know, then a few people might find my blog. But it's Mommy Bloggers. Do I belong on the list in the first place?
I'm a mom, and I'm a blogger, but I don't know if I'm a capital-M "Mommy Blogger." Probably not, at least not all the way. Sometimes I wish I were, because they get more visitors. Other times I'm kind of good-naturedly derisive, even while identifying as a member of the group, if only on the periphery. I don't know. I don't feel like it fits me. But I blog about being a mom, right?
My friend Leslie put it best: "I'm not a mommy blogger. I'm just a mom. I don't write about being one all the time, though it's sort of inherent in what I write."
I feel bad stealing it, not least of all because I think she's better than me at articulation and also at being cool; but, yeah. Effing exactly.
I don't know. I want to be popular. I don't want to be popular. I want to be popular but I don't want you all to know I want to be. I don't want to realize that it matters to me.
It would be nice to get a few extra readers for my blog, but I want people who are genuinely interested in the same sort of vibe, you know? Like the day I took this shot. I was trying to get my work done, and my son pestered me for the zillionth time, and I was grousing at him and during all that this intense orange-yellow-ruby light just hit us, and without saying anything we both grabbed our cameras and careened off each other as we raced to the backyard to shoot it. That kind of vibe. I don't review diapers. I do this. I'd sure love to build a community around this.
A late start for the Cherry Blossoms this year. We have been waiting for 3 weeks now, and still not at its peak. With the warmer weather, perhaps mid-week, and definitely by this weekend. Another return trip will be necessary. A nice surprise, around 540am, as I was on 295, heading down to the basin, Reggie called asking where he should park. I had planned on shooting by myself, and was really happy that Reggie was able to shoot with me. Nothing like shooting with a good friend.
