The vortex/funnel that emerges when spinning water fast. At the Exploratorium, one can control the speed with which the water spins, and bring the vortex from a small depression in the middle, to a full-length, twisting air tunnel all the way to the bottom of the container.

The path ahead is sometimes a little scary....especially on I88 at 5:30 AM!

Jordan Scott's Profile: (from Evanston, ILL.)

As a mixed media artist, Jordan Scott works with a repeating set of elements that are either identical or very similar in nature but can be re-purposed with innovative variations. These materials, typically assembled in large numbers, manifest the interconnectedness of the universe, or the collective unconscious, that is a repeating theme in Scott’s work.

Just picked up a set of these for my CB400F cafe project. I'm using CB750F forks so these 35mm clip-ons will work great. eBay price with shipping was $81. Full price is $160 at www.vortexracing.com/

Multi-vortex tornado sequence from May 27, 2013 in northern Kansas. In the conditions it was hard to get a clear shot of this twister, but at several points the multiple vortices were very clear.

This is also the storm from the wild TIV intercept video this summer.

This is a close up of a vortex marble made by Jim Witham. I used the Post Focus mode on a Panasonic GX8 and focus stacking to maximize depth of field. In the future, I plan to experiment with diffuse lighting to reduce reflections.

My thoughts moved toward the sky.

A recent German supercomputer estimates there are 500 billion galaxies. That means there could be a galaxy out there for every star in the Milky Way. I wondered about the insignificance of-it-all…

And then, the significance...

The scene spoke to me and in some way and challenged me. It sounded like a breeze through the pines and felt like a pat on the back, or maybe, a gentle push.

I was shooting with the sky. It was a beautiful, soulful conversation.
