Sunday morning walk around Austin, TX.
Part of my Deep Reflections series. These are single images that capture the reflecting surface, what is in front of the reflecting surface, and what is behind the reflecting surface. This allows the brain to recombine aspects of 3 different depths in various ways.
Famous for introducing the world to the Bacon Maple Bar, Memphis Mafia, and The Cannolo, Voodoo Doughnut now offers more than 50 artisan flavor options, including 25 vegan options with focus on the guest experience, employee incentives and giving back to the community through its charitable initiatives.
I'm ashamed to say it, but I missed Sunday's portrait. I took a ton of pictures, but none of them included me.
Julie's sister took us to Voodoo Donuts in downtown Portland for the afternoon... I ate two of them - so in an extremely circuitous sort of way, a picture of them counts, right?

I used to think that the Milky Way was something you could only see if you’re an astronomer- it is super elusive and when you do see it, you might mistake it for some haze or fog in the night sky. Was at Lost Lake over the weekend because the forecast said it’d be clear. And it was, before sunset. Set my alarm for 11pm and took a nap. When I woke up, Mt Hood was barely in sight, enshrouded by clouds. Disappointment mounting, I set up my gear to take a test shot anyway. Worst fears confirmed as pictures turned out cloudy. Since I’d driven 2.5 hours there, I decided to muck around and be optimistic. There were a couple of flashes across the sky coz there was a probably a thunderstorm going on some where in the West. That distracted me for while, and before I knew it, the skies cleared and the Milky Way was totally visible! Took many shots (probably too many) and this is my favorite amongst them. I guess some things, like Portland’s Voodoo donuts, are worth the wait? :)

One of the famous donuts from Voodoo Donuts called a Gay Bar. Delicious icing & froot loops on the outside, cream filling on the inside. Yum!
This was sorta the picture I was going for, but not quite. The prime spot I wanted to be was occupied by a couple of 30 year olds with a newborn. I tried waiting around, but it appears they were bound and determined to have a multi-course meal. Besides them, downtown was packed! I know that it's Summer, but it's the middle of the week, folks! Go home and watch Hulu or something. Maybe I'll wait for a clear day in January to take this shot at the right angle and right time.
Located in Portland's iconic Old Town, Voodoo Donuts is the hippest little donut shop I've ever seen - and the line up to get in and buy a donut was literally out the door and around the block morning, noon, and night. At night this neon-lit hot spot becomes the center of Portland's universe with every business thriving.

One of the famous donuts from Voodoo Donuts called a Gay Bar. Delicious icing & froot loops on the outside, cream filling on the inside. Yum!
Voodoo Donuts are legendary in the city of Portland, although I may never know why - because customers were lined up out the door and literally around the block from early morning until late at night. Lit up in bright neon, the place takes on a life of its' own after hours.

A Mexican chocolate donut and the utterly awesome, amazing and delicious maple bacon bar. Yes, I ate both of these. Yes, I felt a bit ill afterwards. Yes, it was worth it.
