I took this shot during my visit to Vishakhapatnam( Vizag ). Tantadi beach is about 60 Km away from Vishakhapatnam city Andra Pradesh, India. It's not so popular to tourists. It's a beautiful, untamed beach with a calm and quiet atmosphere.

Portrait of my nephew!

Visakhapatnam is a port city and industrial center in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, on the Bay of Bengal. It's known for its many beaches.

Everything looks different in the light of the setting sun. The view of the city of Visakhapatmam, with lights just starting to switch on, from Kailasagiri looks so pretty. The hills and the houses are visible at a distant. The blue sky is amazing with each cloud shaded with different colours of sunlight. The foreground has part of Kailasagiri hill which is so pretty covered in green vegetation of grass and trees!

Similar to the Erra Matti Dibbalu ( Red Sand Hills), a notified National Geo-heritage Monument, but less known (fortunately !) and about 20 kms north of Bhimili......

Such sand deposits have been reported only from three low latitude tropical regions in South Asia—the Teri Sands of Tamil Nadu, the Erra Matti Dibbalu in Andhra Pradesh and Red Coastal Sands of Sri Lanka. They do not occur in any other equatorial or temperate regions across the world.

The red or orange rock owes its color to microscopic grains of iron oxide minerals (such as hematite and goethite)

The iron-rich heavy minerals present in the soil had undergone leaching by surface water and were then oxidised because of the favourable semi-arid climatic conditions.

Various theories of formation:

Marine transgression, High velocity wind, South west monsoon winds, Aeolian processes:

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is the policy started by Government of India to promote education for all section of people. I visited one of the government schools in Visakhapatnam to photograph the amenities available as compared to those available in private schools. To my surprise i found that the amenities were much better than my expectations. The government is doing a good job to attract more kids to join the schools.
