This drawing project emphasized visual and verbal communication, storytelling, missing information, and limitations of art—all themes in Taryn Simon’s “A Living Man Declared Dead” exhibit. To begin, students sat together in groups of two. One student was to tell a story about their family relative (or community member) in focus this semester, while the other student was to make a blind contour drawing of their partner and write down words that stood out to them as they listened. Once complete, the partners would trade roles and do the project again. Students were able to choose new partners after each completed session.
*Blind contour drawings are made by not looking down at one’s paper while drawing a subject situated in front of them, and there is a certain capacity for misinformation to be presented on the surface when finished. The written text was aimed at supplementing the missing information in their drawings (a portrait that only vaguely resembles their partner) and students shared their work as a class when done.

In one of the scenes of the show, Claudia the lead singer of the band takes pictures of the band, herself and the audience to form a picture mosaic. these pictures latter animate into a zoetrope fluctuating in space.
On the left is the interface to control different aspects of the animation in real time, and the rest of the image is projected on 5 screens behind the band.
Short FPS video I created for Visual Effects, it was my first ever video made from scratch on After Effects.
Admist the visual noise I found in this puddle, the tree, and a couple blades of green grass were starting to poke out.
