This is just a small slice of The Flume, an 800 foot long waterfall in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire. There are hundreds of waterfalls in the area.

Probably my favorite composition from this session. The fall colors were brilliant, had some nice reds that season. The Waterloo Covered bridge spans the Warner River just north of Henniker NH.

Just about everywhere we turned in North Conway, New Hampshire during the Part Time Vagabond Photo Walk, we stumbled upon a picture postcard scene. Covered bridges are abundant in NH, and this one—the Swift River Bridge—sits a quarter mile from another covered bridge just downstream. In fact, I was able to get a panorama with both bridges in the same shot!

The water was really flowing due to all the rain during the previous week. Normally at this time of the year the water in the gorge is more of a slow trickle. When we were there it was more like the spring snow melt runoff...when the area is closed!! Hey little m, not bad for the East Coast, eh? :) www.visitnh.gov/flume/index.html

There is always beauty, even after falling!

Rustic cottage of an era gone by sitting before the moutains range covered in fog and clouds. The landscape covered with tall grass and weeds.

A walk in College Woods this afternoon. We had a beautiful day. I didn't have time to go out for a paddle so I took my dog for a walk along the river instead. Took a few snaps with the phone along the way.

While driving down from Maine, we visited New Hampshire. We spent sometime in UNH and the nearby Fort Foster. I really love their motto of "Live Free or Die".

Origin of the State Name:

New Hampshire was named for Hampshire, England, by Captain John Mason.

New England:

It is one of the six New England states, the others being Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Nicknames:

New Hampshire has 4 nicknames. The first is the one by which the state is commonly known.

Granite State: for our extensive granite formations and quarries

Mother of Rivers: for the rivers of New England that originate in our Mountains

White Mountain State: for the White Mountain Range

Switzerland of America: for our beautiful mountain scenery

Capital:

Concord is the seat of New Hampshire government. It is centrally located in the state on the Merrimack River.

Motto:

Live Free or Die. The motto comes from a statement written by the Revolutionary General John Stark, hero of the Battle of Bennington.

Statehood:

New Hampshire became the 9th state on June 21, 1788. It was one of the original 13 colonies.

Elevation

The highest point is Mount Washington at 6,288 feet (1,918 m); lowest point is sea level; approximate mean elevation is 1,000 feet (305 m).

hoje sao 65.000 visitnhas , obrigada a todos que passam por aqui!

Markings on the Ledyard Bridge that spans the great Connecticut River connecting Hanover, NH to Vermont. The bridge is relatively young, as it was built from 1996-99, and is the widest, highest and longest of the four predecessors. On the other side of the bridge is Lewiston, VT, which enjoyed a heyday in the late 1800's due to a rail station which brought many visitors and supplies to Dartmouth. Today, Lewiston exists as Dartmouth's ghost town neighbor across the river.

An interesting fact about the Connecticut River, from www.visitnh.gov: "Oddly, the state border is not in the center of that river, as is usually the case, but lies at the low-water mark on the Vermont side; so New Hampshire actually owns the entire river where it runs adjacent to Vermont."
