If Greece is famous for one thing, this would be its blue color. And you can find that blue everywhere. On the clear sky, on the seas that surround the country, on its flag, on its traditional houses. So no surprises if anyone who visits Greece feels overwhelmed to capture its color. And I can't think of a better place to do this other than on top of a mountain on a cycladic island. The view here is from Isternia village at the island of Tinos. At the back of the frame you can see another Cycladic island, Siros. I hope y'all enjoying your summer!

Εαν η Ελλαδα ειναι διασημη για κατι, αυτο θα ειναι το μπλε της χρωμα. Και μπορεις να βρεις το μπλε παντου. Στον καθαρο ουρανο, στις θαλασσες που την περιτριγυριζουν, στη σημαια της, στα παραδοσιακα της σπιτια. Οποτε δεν αποτελει εκπληξη εαν καποιος που επισκεπτεται την ελλαδα νιωσει εναν μεγαλο ενθουσιασμο να φωτογραφισει το μπλε χρωμα. Και δεν μπορω να φανταστω καποιοι καλυτερο μερος για να το κανει αυτο καποιοις απο τη βουνοκορφη ενος κυκλαδιτικου νησιου. Η θεα εδω ειναι απο τα Υστερνια της Τηνου. Στο βαθος του καδρου φαινεται η Συρος με τα βουνα της. Ελπιζω ολοι να απολαμβανετε το καλοκαιρι σας!

It has been nearly five years since we visited Greece. I had hoped to go back before now, but we have not been able to do so. Instead, I visit some of the images I made there now and then. Allow me to share this one, made looking towards Oia at sunset on Santorini.
St Lawrence Church is an eighteenth-century, neoclassical church in Ayot St Lawrence, Hertfordshire, England. It is also known as New St Lawrence Church to distinguish it from the ruined Old St Lawrence Church.
History
The church was commissioned by Sir Lionel Lyde, a merchant who had a country estate at Ayot St Lawrence. According to Historic England, construction was financed with profits from the slave trade.[2] He intended this to replace the 'Old Church' which he had partly demolished because the latter obstructed the view from his Ayot House, his mansion.[3]
The architect was Nicholas Revett, the co-author of The Antiquities of Athens and Other Monuments of Greece, a multi-volume publication which appeared from 1762. Revett had visited Greece to study its architectural heritage.[4] One of the sources of inspiration for the church may have been a temple on the island of Delos.

Views to the Acropolis in Athens Greece. The Acropolis of Athens is the most striking and complete ancient Greek monumental complex still existing in our times. It is a Unesco World heritage site and set on a hill above Athens it is useful for navigational purposes!

Last Monday we had a special meet at OAKA (the Olympic Complex of Athens).
John Kosmopoulos and his lovely wife Chrysoula visited Greece all the way from Toronto for the first time after seven years. Having already met John in Berlin (and knowing his love for architecture and abstracts) it was a great chance to meet them at OAKA, along with good friends (and Flickr and G+ celebrities) Helen Sotiriadis and Julia Anna Gospodarou. Unfortunately our other friend Aleka Iakovidou couldn't make it there, but she did make it next day when we met again for some nice food and chat. Our Canadian friends and the girls were already there when I arrived (late as ever...) but the midday light was too harsh for any good photos anyway so we chatted for quite a while and had a stroll around.
But as the sun started to set, nice things started to happen, beautiful colors in the sky, interesting shapes looking really good, so the cameras took their place on the tripods making up for the "lost time". The full moon that nobody expected was a nice bonus to an already spectacular scene.
The conclusion came a little later with a nice dinner at a local taverna, so we all went to rest with our minds and souls full.
A memorable evening for sure!

Ευτυχώς στη ζωή, οι γραμμές μπορούν και καμπυλώνονται, γίνονται κύματα, γίνονται σύννεφα, μεταλλάσονται ή σπάνε. Μια νέα αρχή ακόμα και σε κάτι παλιό, ας γίνει με το ξεκίνημα του νέου μήνα και του φθινοπώρου και ας κλειδώσουμε μόνο τα καλά και τα ωραία ας τα αφήσουμε να φτερουγίσουν στον αέρα!

This is a replica of The Parthenon at Nashville, TN, supposedly the only other place to have the structure. Inside, is a 42' tall statue of Greek Goddess Athena. I was 5 minutes late there. It was closed by then. Couldn't see the statue (sigh!)
