The São Paulo Pinacoteca is a museum of visual arts with an emphasis on Brazilian production from the nineteenth century to the present day. Founded in 1905 by the Government of the State of São Paulo, it is the oldest art museum in the city of São Paulo.

Der Konzeption eines Deutschen Historischen Museums mit dieser Zielsetzung war eine hitzige kultur- und geschichtspolitische Debatte vorausgegangen. Über Sinn, Auftrag, Zweck und Chancen eines Museums für die deutsche Geschichte im internationalen Kontext gab es unterschiedlichste Auffassungen unter Fachgelehrten, Politikern und Medien.
Neben dem Zeughaus - einem 300 Jahre alten barocken Hauptgebäude, was seit 1987 die Zeitzeugnisse der wechselvollen deutschen Geschichte beherbergt, eröffnete im Jahr 2003 die moderne Ausstellungshalle des chinesisch-amerikanischen Architekten I.M. Pei.

Went back to the footbridge and snapped another shot of it. Took this shot before back in May, and I love this spot and went back again.
Difference here is that I took this shot with my back up camera, the Sony NEX

To my surprise today, a Northern Flicker stopped by for a drink and a bath in our pond. Not a usual backyard bird in my neighbourhood, so I was happy that I was able to capture some shots.
We visit the arboretum for many reasons, the serenity of it all, the wildlife, a change of scenery, and the surprises.
Mostly for the surprises. We joke about seeing something new and or different nearly every time we visit. This trip was no different. On one of the rare occasions when trying to get some photos of the Great Egret in flight as it soared across the lake to settle in a tree at the other end, I managed to capture something else.
It wasn't until looking at my photos later did I realize the Great Blue Heron was also standing there on the bank! Now that was a fun surprise!
