Colour tends to divide photographers into two distinct camps. Ones that love it embrace it, ‘oversaturate it’ and ones that prefer life without it. They are distinctly different people. One side is joyful, happy and likes to listen to musicals and the other prefers clean lines, black tiles in their kitchen and listens to Leonard Cohen on repeat! Err…
Thing is, I find myself in both camps! I suppose I’ve never really wanted to nail my ‘colours’ to the virtual mast and select a preference towards an expected norm. I like to appreciate both; (well I draw the line at musicals). I cannot turn my attention away from either and follow a popular mantra in order to satisfy my peers. I wish I could, I would certainly gain more respect from one or the other groups, but I can’t bring myself to ignore either. Anyway, the moody fine art camp can’t have my full attention, but neither can the ‘hurt your eyes HDR’ camp! I’m going to keep somewhere in the middle, occasionally sneaking into one or the others camp in disguise.
