See the "Virtual CloneDrive" video
go.tagjag.com/screencast - twitter.com/chrispirillo - Bowman has produced several excellent screencasts for us in the past. I was only too happy to share this with all of you. The quality is, as usual, excellent! The content is important. Virtual CloneDrive works just like any physical CD or DVD driver. However, it's virtual! All image files made with CloneDrive can be mounted onto a virtual drive from either your hard disk or a network drive. The image can then be used the same way as if it was coming off of a normal CD or DVD drive! chris.pirillo.com - www.youtube.com/bwonedotcomThis video was originally shared on blip.tv by l0ckergn0me with a No license (All rights reserved) license.

During early morning hours, and while the five-story temporary Art Hotel exhibit isn't open for public viewing, a team from Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects (D&B) has been laser scanning the entire building since Monday, February 8, 2016. The completed scan combines the three dimensional data into an online virtual art exhibit “walk-through” available for public viewing starting at 8:00 PM PST on February 19, 2016. Virtual Art Hotel is only available for a limited time, and will be completely erased the day the building is demolished.
“As the Art Hotel closes, the “walk-through” will be available only temporarily, so that both the hotel exhibit itself and the virtual exhibit are short-term,” says Jason A. Silva, design principal at Dreyfuss & Blackford and project lead for the Virtual Art Hotel.
Led by Silva and Chad Garcia, director of design technology at D&B, the team will scan, compile and launch the free online "point cloud" model allowing the public to virtually experience the building in a way people have never seen before. After the Jade Apartments are demolished, the Virtual Art Hotel will be removed from the Internet and all instances of the data will be destroyed.
The laser scanning technology works by millions of points being recorded by LIDAR scanning equipment, which senses light reflected from the laser as it rotates and covers a complete spherical range. “The term LIDAR is a portmanteau of light and radar, and functions the same as radar, with the benefit of light reflection - including color, which is ideal to record the art inside the space,” said Silva. “As architects, we use this tool to accurately document existing conditions when renovating or remodeling an existing building. However, in this case this virtual online experience will, like the Art Hotel itself, be temporary,” he added.

Since Greenfield Village, the "museum" of historic buildings adjacent to the Henry Ford Museum is kept closed by the COVID-19 pandemic, I'm posting photos from past visits. Stay home. Stay safe.
That's my brother Daniel with our new nephew Felix Sam! Coming to you live from Auckland New Zealand. It was very odd to have a computer join us at the Thanksgiving table, but it was also great. Danny and Andrea got to be with us while Holly and I read our Thanksgiving/10th anniversary bits. And they were with us ten years ago when we met, too. So a little internet went a long way.
