Los sábados por la noche dan para mucho, sales a cenar, luego tomas una copa en un pub con ambiente agradable, escuchas un poco de música, vas a una disco, bailas, conoces gente, ligas un rato, sales buscando donde seguir la fiesta, bebes más copas, follas, vuelves a follar, te vas a casa, duermes la mona y te levantas con resaca el domingo. Ese día había salido de fiesta con mi puta, le puse su corsé rojo, sus medias de rejilla, su faldita negra, iba guapísima. Le pinté los labios despacio y me puse cachonda al hacerlo, es mi debilidad. I'm almost sad I didn't quite make the picture filled with far more bright colours.

Traditionally, the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that serves to remember and pray for loved ones who have passed. It's a little unique, in the fact that reverence is paid in tending to graves and surrounding ourselves with positive memories, thoughts, stories. Shrines will often be filled with foods and things that the deceased loved in life, and I have always thought of it as a good reminder that it's best to focus upon the good memories, rather than the fact that they are passed.

My mother was quite the eccentric, and whether she'll ever know it or not, was an inspiration to all that I was. I was always very careful about not mimicking too much; she was always very adamant about letting my own light shine, even if it ended up being absolutely fucking ridiculous. For a long time, I was pretty droll and closeted, and I would make a fuss about some of the oddities she'd wear around, even when just taking a trip to Wal-Mart. She said one day, I'd appreciate how unique she was, and I'd miss it a lot more when I realized most weren't as daring and fashionable as she was.

She was right.
