Tow Dodge Chargers of different design. The 8-wide on the left is an official Speed Champions set, the 7-wide on the right was designed in 6-wide by Alek Bubnov, and upscaled to 7-wide by me.

On my favourite road bend between Oppendorf and Flüggendorf.

Toy Project Day 2582

Some new parts from the Dodge Charger kit.

1x1 x2/3 double plates with hollow stud.

And a 1x5 plate. I've already seen them in stud.io and was a wee bit confused, because I'd never expected Lego to add useful parts to their portfolio.

In the background the useless rim&tyre combination wheels, worst choice ever for a muscle car.

Toy Project Day 2565

Not bad for an official Speed Champions model.

As I said yestwerday, found the brand new kit for 20€ instead of 25€ at my favourite grocery store.

This thingy has rollerskates as handles - a technique we AFOLs already have been using for some years, now found its way into an official set.

I've used the 4x8 curved slope in the rear for Zombieman's Hoovercar in 2017. Nice idea, bad execution - that snotted lower part has no real connection to the slope, there's always a gap.

I've always complained about too many stickers on SC sets - this one comes with just five. Some ridiculous printed parts, but stickers for the number plate and the 'Charger' logo *sigh*

This car comes with the new rim&tyre in one piece wheels - worst choice ever for a 60s muscle car.

But nice overall.

Toy Project Day 2564

So Lego decided to introduce another shade of pink.

No, I don't like fleshies, for the simple reason that the choice of faces, and thus the variance of expressions, is so very limited. With Vin Diesel being in yet another shade, I cannot even change his head, because his arms are in the same tone.

I went grocery shopping yesterday, and the shop had the new SC kits for 20€ instead of 25€, so I spontaneously bought the Dodge Charger from... uhm... Slow and Chilled or something like that.

Toy Project Day 2563

Hej Furry, whut are you fiddling down there?

Changing gear, Baldie!

Leave it alone, that's the handbrake.

So how do I...?

This is an american car. Just let it do the magic!

Ah, okay, I was wondering about the missing clutch pedal.

Two feet, two pedals - easy!

Two brain cells, two political parties - silly.

I have a second brain cell? Who says that?!

A guy called science, Baldie. Maybe you can find someone who can introduce you.

Who cares. Now put the pedal to the metal!

*slamming the brake*

*shriieeek!*

The other one, Furball!

Nay, this one. Get out.

*door slamming*

*Wrooom!*

*shrieking tyres*

*hot rubber on the road*

Damn.

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

Another lame pun for my Toy Project.

What happens to the Fast and Furious when Bigfoot takes the wheel? The Furry and the fastious. Uhmm, doens't make any sense. Fastidiuos - pingelig. Nagging all the time is never a good idea...

Oh, a word about the picture. I had thought that putting the Dodge on the road and get a decent shot is easy as cake. It's not.

My youngest son Andrew walks by while I’m post-processing this image and says, “Looks like the Iron Giant,” me, “Perfect, that’s the title!” The unwitting, innocently ironic observation is spot on. A reference to the cult classic, cold war-themed animation about a boy - Hogarth Hughes - and a giant indestructible, self-repairing, alien robot whom he befriends and adores. A timeless story Andrew, his Irish twin brother Alexander, and I watched many times over when they were toddlers. And, yes. In some respects, former Santa Fe GP30r 2722, does look like a menacing Iron Giant. The irony doesn’t end there. This La Grange Iron Giant was born in 1962 during the onset of the Cold War and the end of nuclear test detonations in the Nevada desert. 56 years forward on the day after Christmas, now Washington Eastern 2422, it might seem this EMD giant is truly indestructible, and while it isn’t self-repairing, it certainly has been rebuilt from the ground up at least once by craftsmen at the Cleburne Shops in Texas in 1983, and, albeit figuratively, still eating up the track just as the cinematic Iron Giant had, whose voice is none other than Vin Diesel’s - pun intended. And still, there are more parallels with the story of the metal alien in that like Hogarth, who sheepishly exclaims, “My very own giant robot - I’m the luckiest kid in America!” I too feel that boyish exuberance of “having” my very own giant robot each time I’ve been at 2422’s, or any locomotive’s throttle just as it was this snowing, as if, though thankfully not, nuclear winter night near MP83 on the CW Sub. However, eventually, everything comes to an end. Someday, in the not to distant future, 2422 will, as in the movie, encounter destruction. And the boy says to the Iron Giant: “You go, I stay. No following!” (©26Dec18)

Here's one of several Pontiac GTO's currently on display in the GM Heritage Center in the Detroit suburb of Sterling Heights: it's the supercharged spy car that Xander Cage, played by Vin Diesel, drove in the 2002 action movie, XXX.

There was a noticeable paint chip on the ridge at the front of the hood. I don't know if that's from one of the stunts that happened during shooting, or whether that happened at some point after the movie had wrapped.

My fellow Brickish member Alec suggested that I build a Vin Diesel figure to accompany the Mitsubishi. Earlier I considered building Paul Walker, as his character drove the car in the movie, but wasn't sure the figure would be sufficiently recognisable. However, as a twosome and with the car, I think they work.

Long before I started my movie cars theme, I actually already built a car from The Fast and Furious. Brian O'Connor (the character played by Paul Walker) uses a Ford F150 SVT Lightning as his daily driver. I built the model back in 2008, but updated it a few times since.

Chrysler paid Warner Brothers $50,000 for the use of the the name and likeness of their Road Runner cartoon character (as well as a beep, beep horn, which Plymouth paid $10,000 to develop),

The first generation Plymouth Road Runner was produced between 1968-70 on the Chrysler B platform.

Plymouth set out to build a back-to-basics muscle car. Everything essential to performance and handling was beefed-up and improved; everything nonessential was left out. The interior was spartan with a basic cloth-and-vinyl bench seat, lacking even carpets in early models, and few options were available - just the basics such as power steering and front disc brakes, AM radio, air conditioning (except with the 426 Hemi) and automatic transmission. A floor-mounted shifter (for the four-speed) featured only a rubber boot and no console so that a bench seat could be used.

The earliest of the 1968 models were available only as 2-door pillared coupes (with a B-pillar between the front and rear windows), but later in the model year a 2-door "hardtop" model (sans pillar) was offered. The Road Runner of 1968-1970 was based on the Belvedere, while the GTX was based on the Satellite, a car with higher level trim and slight differences in the grilles and taillights.

The standard engine was an exclusive-to-the-Road Runner 383 CID (6.3 L) Roadrunner V8 rated at 335 bhp using the radical cam from the 440 Super Commando. When air conditioning was ordered, the cars received the 330 hp (246 kW) version, as the radical cam specs of the 335 bhp (250 kW) version didn't create enough vacuum to accommodate a/c.

The 1969 model kept the same basic look but with some slight changes such as tail lights and grille, side marker lights, optional bucket seats, and new Road Runner decals. The Road Runner added a convertible option for 1969.i n 1969 the 383ci engine was the standard powerplant, and the 426 cubic inch Hemi was the only engine option available for the Road Runner until mid year production. The standard 383ci V8 had 335 horsepower, and was marketed as the "383 Roadrunner Engine", which is also what the air cleaner read. The (A12) 440 engine option with 3X2 barrel Holley carburetors was added to the lineup at mid-year. The "440 Six Pack" had no wheel covers or hubcaps, only the 15x6" "H" stamped steel black wheels with chrome lug nuts. It featured a black fiberglass lift-off hood with 4 hood pins and a large functional hood scoop with a red sticker on each side saying "440 6BBL"

The 1970 model year brought new front and rear end looks to the basic 1968 body, and it would prove to be another success. Updates included a new grille, a cloth & vinyl bench seat, hood, front fenders, quarter panels, single-piston Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes, and even non-functional scoops in the rear quarters. The 440 Six Barrel remained an option for 1970. The 1969 "M" Code Edelbrock aluminum intake was replaced by a factory-produced cast iron piece; however there were some early cars built prior to January 1, 1970 that were equipped with the left over aluminum Edelbrock intake from the year prior. Sales of the 1970 Road Runner dropped by more than 50 percent over the previous year to around 41,000 units (about 1,000 ahead of Pontiac's GTO but still about 13,000 units behind Chevy's Chevelle SS-396/454).

My previous Mae West collage is the most popular image in my Flickr stream, by a huge margin. So I thought I'd make another one. The medium is cut-paper collage postcard. Mae West is in the dress bedecked with ermine tails that she wore in the movie "Klondike Annie." Her arms are replaced by those of Vin Diesel, from "xXx." The shark inside her diving helmet is a mako.

For those of you who're curious about what Mae West is covering up, it's a page from my journal of nearly 30 years ago. At the time, I was doing neurophysiology research in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In the following, "slice prep" refers to a complicated setup for keeping alive a slice from the brain of a rat (killed humanely, of course). Bob is my husband, Ray was the head of the lab, and Dr. Bayer was a therapist I left behind when I moved from Houston. The page reads:

"I had awful nightmares last night, scenes of blood and violence. I was working to get the slice prep going, and sharks foraged in waist-deep murky water. They found the corpse of a small child who had died there, and they picked the bones clean. Ray and myself and the grad student Steve, we had to throw the bones out in the hallway before going back to work. . . My dream indicates that I am worried that my anger is eating me up, despite the surface level of insouciance. (Ray and I sitting on the counter, swinging our legs just inches above the bloody water, waiting for the frenzy to be over so we could go about our business.) Bob has observed that I haven't really thrown myself into my work, that I am resisting it, fighting it somehow. I think I am fighting the reality of this time. I don't want it to be real that I'm not Dr. Bayer's patient anymore. It's too much. It threatens to strangle me. It comes like the shark, whose initial bite is felt as a strange, thudding, pulling sensation. And then you look down, and your leg is gone, and you wait to be eaten alive. You wait for death. If I'm not with him (in him, of him), then I'm not the person I was. And therefore I'm dead. The sharks feed on my mangled corpse. The new 'me' goes on with her life."

The last sentence on the page ends with "...Chapel Hill called 'This Side of Heaven.')"

I don't know if this counts as an art journal page, or not...

"Following Nastya's disappearance, Gus, Glorianna, and I decided to do our 'Battle of the Bands' photos as a trio. Our group is a BDSM-darksynth band named after a line Catalina Morace said in Sabrina's Star School 2: V For Vindiesel! We all dressed up in our favorite BDSM get-ups for this gig. We were very inspired by bands like Hatari, but also wanted an eighties-inspired darksynth aesthetic. Our album name is a tribute to one of our mentors, Lark Hayward. Our album sleeve is worn-out and dusty, as if you found it while cleaning out your dead uncle's attic."

All in all, I am so proud of these photos. I really want to thank Tropico and Gryph for being amazing teammates. In eleven years of participating in doll competitions, I have never done a group photo. Thank you both for making this a great experience!
