In 1907, Jules Cavalier, brilliant inventor of some of the smartest equipment ever developed for the wine industry, planted his first vineyards in order to experiment with new machines.

Nowadays, his inventions are no longer in use, but his descendants have expanded the vineyards in several of the best places in France and now produce some of the most respected wines in the country.

This Cabernet Sauvignon is elegant, complex and velvety on the palate. It has lovely aromas of black current and strawberry enhanced by green pepper hints. Enjoy with traditional cooking, grilled meat and cheeses. Serve at 60 degrees Fahrenheit

I think it's nigh on impossible to dislike this chain of steak restaurants. The pre-sliced steak (rare obvs) is so meltingly tender there's no need to use the knife and that green sauce is fantastic. The house red is consistently quaffable and cheap as chips. Service can be rushed and abrupt. And it's also good for solo diners despite the elbow to elbow tables.

I haven’t been riding my bike for nearly two weeks because my back is playing up. Anyway lunch today is one of the most delicious things on earth; smoked eel, served with crème fraîche and spaghetti, and a bottle of bubbles.
