* I enjoyed the city of Oslo a great deal but certainly the highlight was visiting the Viking ships museum at Bygdøy. It’s quite remarkable that this boat has survived. Viking ship building was amazing it's so functional but also pleasing on the eye with its pure lines . This is a shot looking directly at the bow of the craft and at the top of the comments is a wide shot of the vessel

The Oseberg ship is a well-preserved Viking ship discovered in a large burial mound at the Oseberg farm near Tønsberg in Norway. The Oseberg burial mound contained numerous grave goods and two female human skeletons. The ship's interment into its burial mound dates from 834 AD, but parts of the ship date from around 800, and the ship itself is thought to be older. It was excavated by Norwegian archaeologist Haakon Shetelig and Swedish archaeologist Gabriel Gustafson in 1904-1905. This ship is widely celebrated and has been called one of the finest finds to have survived the Viking Age.

The ship is a clinker built "karv" ship built almost entirely of oak. It is 21.58 m long and 5.10 m broad, with a mast of approximately 9–10 m. With a sail of c. 90 m², the ship could achieve a speed up to 10 knots. The ship has 15 pairs of oar holes, which means that 30 people could row the ship. Other fittings include a broad steering oar, iron anchor, gangplank, and a bailer. The bow and stern of the ship are elaborately decorated with complex woodcarvings in the characteristic "gripping beast" style, also known as the Oseberg style.

Viking Village! 🌲🌲🌲

Finally, I'd like to show you my section of Viking Village collab which I prepared with my friends from LUG - ZbudujmyTo.

I decided to prepare a rocky beach to fill the gap and now the entire diorama can be consider as a stand alone MOC. My part consist of two houses, thatch, well and watchtower on the rocks.

Additionally, I wanted to push a life into a village so I captured Viking warriors wandering across the settlement, prepare little scene with bear hunting or a villager who brought the supplies.

I'm really happy that we decided to divide the view into two layers. The upper one include main path which is going through the all participants fragments. On the bottom you can distinguish a huge beach and coast. To obtain the level differences at sea, we used several shades of blue plates

Hope you like it.

Mini Viking Canvas

The viking village near Stokksnes. It was built for a movie that was never filmed.

Resuming the filming of my next brickfilm, there's still a long way to go (expect wide shots with many extras). Pretty happy with the results.

(don't worry, I'll keep uploading stuff here too!)
