Each spring the cherry blossoms provide beautiful color to the Utah State Capitol grounds.

I posted a similar view before, but this one I like with the steps leading up to the building.

We had stopped for a breather when this group of lady walkers passed us on the way down to Durdle Door and I thought they would add some interest to the photo. Lulworth Cove is off in the distance.

A few weeks back, on what started out as a misty morning, I decided I'd rush up to London to see if I could take advantage of the mist for some architectural photography. Well, I'm not really someone that is very good at rushing anywhere and so it goes without saying that by the time I got into London the mist had all but gone. There is very slight evidence of it here in the distant Canary Wharf architecture on the right and those buildings on the left but that was about as much mist as I got that morning. The view here is of the HMS Belfast, a second world war Royal Navy warship permanently moored in the Thames as a tourist attraction. In the background of course the always photogenic Tower Bridge.

Salar de Talar is a large salt flat located in the high puna of northern Chilean Andes, at an altitude of 3,950 m. It is part of a series of salt lakes and salt flats located at the foothills of a chain of volcanoes stretching along the eastern side of the much greater Salar de Atacama. The salty flat is bordered on the west by Caichinque and on the east by Cerro Medano, is a mountain with striking shades of grey and brown, which contrast nicely with the sparkling white of the salt flat's surface. On top of that, colourful ponds fringe its shores. Salar de Talar is a part of the Central Andean dry puna ecoregion, which in this zone is characterized by tussock grass vegetation.

Another shot from my visit up Church Hill, Alnmouth, this time a 10 shot panorama, to capture the full curve of the river.

Lots of new logging in the area is opening up some great views of the Mt. Rainier.

View of lupine and balsam root wildflowers in the Gorge, shortly before the sun crested the horizon. It is almost always windy at this location. Dawn is the best chance for stillness. As it was, I was lucky to find a moment at 1/6 second when the flowers weren't in motion.

LARGE View

After nearly 7 hours of hiking, we were greeted with this magnificent view. What a day.

A view looking east on E. Main from N. Walnut St. in downtown Champaign. The five buildings in this view on the north side of E. Main all contribute to the Champaign Downtown Commercial District listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020. All were built between 1860 and 1907, and are Italianate and early 20th century commercial designs.

The most prominent building on this block is the four-story building with a center atrium that was constructed for the Jos. Kuhn & Company in 1907. Jos. Kuhn & Co. is a longtime outpost for men's attire that gradually grew until four of the five buildings in this block were being utilized by the company. Although the company's footprint today is smaller, it is still in business today at the same location.

Located in Champaign County in east central Illinois, the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana are the home of the University of Illinois. The population of the City of Champaign at the 2020 census was 88,302, while Champaign County had a population of 205,865.

Source: An outstanding source of information on Champaign's history is T.J. Blakeman's champaignhistory.com website. Highly recommended for a much more in-depth look at the history of the city.

Delicate Arch is one of Utah's most famous icons. You see images of it everywhere: on magazine covers, computer screen savers and license plates. But photos do not adequately convey the stunning beauty that hits you as you come over the ridge and see the arch in person for the first time.

Utah National Park situated along the Colorado River features more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches including its most photographed Delicate Arch. Arches National Park's landscape has been forming and changing for millions of years. It was made a national park in 1971 being previously named a national monument in 1929.
