Wishing you all a very happy Valentine's Day !!
I folded this origami model twice using the same red/gold wrapping paper, just did a color change.
Each heart is folded from a rectangle (1:2), 10x20cm.
Final size: 5cm (the heart) and 2,5cm height (the rose).
You can easily make a brooch from it, just by attaching a pin on a the back.

"Share your smile with the world. It's a symbol of friendship and peace."
Quote - Christie Brinkley
Did you notice too, that every Santa Claus is smiling? The big smiling Santa is telling that to the little one, always keep smiling no matter what and share your smile.
Wishing everyone a very happy, warm and peaceful Christmas or very happy, warm and peaceful Holidays with all your beloved ones.
And many, many thanks for your friendship, support and visit.

~~~ "Skull" and his nephew "Robot" are looking forward to seeing their friends again……. soon. But for now they still have time for their annual conversation to share all the news before celebrating Halloween with their friends ... A lot can happen in a year ……~~~
I folded "Skull" and his nephew "Robot" from one sheet brown foil (13x13cm). Interestingly, when you fold this model the other way around, so making the colored side to the main color, this origami model is more like a robot. Final size about 7,5x7,5cm.
It is easy to fold, why not give it a try? ;-))
This lovely origami model is called "Rain Star" or in Spanish "Estrella de la Lluvia", because when it was created by Aldo Marcell it was raining ;-)
I wanted to see what the difference is when I changed the color, so that's why you see 2 variations, I like them both....which one has your preference?
"Good morning, dear friends and visitors of Origami-world", says Jack O' Lantern.
"This is the news from Friday 29 oktober, just a few days away from the Halloween-party.
One visitor, to take part in this party, is 'Skull' and it already arrived yesterday, because it has been woken up by its hunger. No need to be scared though, "Skull" has certainly NOT eaten 'Fish', as it only eats human emotions, either fear or joy, even sadness. So if would/could feed it........ would be a nice thing ;-))
The investigation of the 'Fish'-mystery is still going on, we keep you informed.
Have a nice day".
A very populair way to show how to fold is of course a video-tutorial on You Tube. It is increasing rapidly, varying from simple to very difficult origami models.
Just a few days ago, I found another variation of the 'Rose Brooch'. It is a model by Sy Chen, as a tribute to Toshie Takahama (1910-1999)
So I decided to fold and show you these two. Perhaps you don't see the difference, but the folding sequence is different and therefore interesting, at least for folders ;-)
The left one is original Toshie Takahama's Rose Brooch and the right one is the modification by Sy Chen, with a color change, so the leaves have a different color than the rose itself.
I used double sided foil (15x15cm).
In The Netherlands the feast day for Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas) is December 6th. The day before, on December 5th, children leave clogs or shoes out for him, which they fill with hay or carrots for his gray horse. In return, St. Nicholas replaces the children’s gifts with small gifts and sweets..
This is an older modular origami model by Aldo Marcell, called "Noria Star".
Someone showed me these units years ago and I re-folded them once more and take a photo this time ;-)). It's an easy model to fold.
Yesterday I presented "ME", which is one unit ;-)
You see two versions: the silver one is made of 8 units and the golden one is made of 10 units.
Both stars are folded from rectangles 1:2.
I used shiny foil-paper(6x12cm).
This origami "Noria Star-unit" is based on the modular origami star-unit from Mette Pederson and Ernesto Del Rio Jiménez.
There is for the "Noria Star" (8 units) a video tutorial by Evan Zodl.
These two little origami ghosts know how to swing ;-))
For the Smile on Saturday! ;-) theme: "Song Title"
~~~"It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" is a 1931 composition by Duke Ellington with lyrics by Irving Mills, now accepted as a jazz standard.
The music was written and arranged by Ellington in August 1931 during intermissions at Chicago's Lincoln Tavern and was first recorded by Ellington and his orchestra for Brunswick Records (Br 6265) on February 2, 1932.
Ivie Anderson sang the vocal and trombonist Joe Nanton and alto saxophonist Johnny Hodges played the instrumental solos. The title was based on the oft stated credo of Ellington's former trumpeter Bubber Miley, who was dying of tuberculosis.
The song became famous, Ellington wrote, "as the expression of a sentiment which prevailed among jazz musicians at the time." Probably the first song to use the phrase "swing" in the title, it introduced the term into everyday language and presaged the Swing Era by three years.
The Ellington band played the song continuously over the years and recorded it numerous times, most often with trumpeter Ray Nance as vocalist.~~~

~~The three very wise Santa Minds made their decisions last night.
First of all, the famous French private detective 'Monsieur L'Inspector' has been appointed with immediate effect to start the investigation into the missing reindeer.
Besides being a fashionable Santa Claus, always dressed in the latest fashion, he also has special skills: he can read fiber optic cables.
We see him at work here and wish him good luck. Hopefully he can untangle the problem…….to be continued (5)~~~

"""Leviathan is a mythical creature, that appears in several books of the Hebrew Bible and other ancient sources. It is often associated with chaos, envy, and the end of time, and has various origins and meanings in different cultures..
A Leviathan is a giant sea creature. It can be real, like a whale, or mythical, like a Serpent or Sea Dragon.
Legend tells us that the Leviathan was at least 300 miles in length. The exact size of the creature was unknown, because the size of the Leviathan was too big to be comprehended by man. This mighty sea creature was known to have a hot temper, that was feared by all and armored scales, that made it impossible to kill the beast."""
Info - the internet
~~~Fortunately in Origami-land the Leviathan is just a friendly Sea Dragon with magical powers, it can fly and live also outside the water.
~~~Finally!!!!!! After a long day of riding the newly developed air-cooled Scooter (another inventive development by Santa SF-Brothers), this Santa Claus has reached the place where the reindeer now reside!! He made contact with the Rudolph Twins, who were assigned as the contact animals. This photo is the moment when they look in amazement at the "strange thing", which can also reach high speeds....... They've had a long conversation and guess what? The answer is actually very simple and logical! Once every 10 thousand years all reindeer come to this magical (the location is top secret), where they bathe in the Golden LIght for some time and thus take in this super energy, so that they can continue to fly. As soon as they are fully charged, they will come back home. The Santa decided to stay there to keep watch over the beloved reindeer……. to be continued~~~

"Woopie, this is a perfect place to spend the night. Very peaceful and quiet! I just love it!!", says this Sea Dragon joyfully ;-))
Sometimes you see that a designer, for whatever reason, comes up with a second more complicated design. That is also the case here.
For this Sea Dragon I made the paper myself: two layers of tissue paper glued on top of each other, blue and black. The colors blended well and the bluest side became the outside. Why I did this? Well, because this model is more complex, has more layers of paper, more refined details and needs even more modeling, than the previous version (see first comment box, in case you missed it yesterday) and then this paper is very suitable.
I also enjoyed making this paper, it's always exciting to see if it succeed, I haven't mastered the right formula yet.
The size of this paper is 43x43cm.

Ich will hier nichts verteidigen.

Post processing video tutorials and TKPanel for Photoshop in German and English
I just released my first English speaking video tutorial covering all aspects of sharpening (presharpening and output sharpening), creating mood, exposure blending and creative processing techniques, focus stacking and preparation for print.
There are also German video tutorials covering more than nine hours of instructional video material for post-processing available on my website!

This is one of my absolute favorite images from our recent NZ trip. Just before sunset I went out again on a short hike up the hill in the Franz Josef Glacier Valley waiting for the magic to appear.
There is really not much I can say about this but that I am considering this being framed somewhere in my house.

Night cityscape of Madrid Skyline. The picture is a blend of 10 files for getting the cartrails and another shot for the Sky.
I tried to emphasize the dinamism of a busy city such as Madrid trying to get as much cartrails as I could, so I blended so many RAWS in order to avoid the traffic jams that used to appear at this hours.
The blending of all the layers was made by using Tony Kuper V4 Actions panel as i explain in this VIDEOTUTORIAL
Hope u like it.

In sharing my recent black and white photos, I have received a lot of questions about my approach to photo processing. I typically start in Lightroom and finish in Photoshop, using tools like levels, curves, and luminosity masks. Even though I prefer to use Photoshop, it isn't necessary to get good results for less complex photos like this one. I just posted a 32-minute video tutorial about taking and processing this photo. The video includes these topics: field techniques, composition, camera settings, and an overview of the processing steps I took to finish the photo, primarily using Adobe Lightroom. This model is one of Shuzo Fujimoto’s few figurative origami designs, but a very distinctive one. I really like it for its simplicity and elegance. Despite being a representative origami model, it has a strong geometric base which it shares with some boxes. In particular, it uses a shutter-like mechanism for closing the bottom, very typical of Fujimoto’s designs.
Instructions for the model were published in Fujimoto’s books:
* Twist Origami II, page 22
* Twist Folds, ISBN 9784416312001, pages 19 (image of model) and 82 (instructions)

I took this shot in Mt Cook National Park a few months ago.
I just loved how the dramatic light of the setting sun fires up the skies and reflects in the river. The current here was super strong and the river much deeper and wider than it probably appears in the image. I was once again kneeling on a rock at the edge of the water, tripod in the water and camera just above the surface. Go to the extremes and you will get the best shots.
If you want to learn how to process photos like the pros, feel free to visit my website for basic and advanced video tutorials (German) and the Photoshop TK Actions Panel (available in German as well).
