. . . in preparation for the piano performance. It was fun to be next to him and watch him work.

I've been wanting to rework this bracketed series of shots for some time now. They were shot at the Ha Ha Tonka State Park in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. When I took the shots, my Arcanum cohart's mentor, world-renouned photographer Martin Bailey, had expressed disappointment that a part of the railing of the observation platform showed up in the lower right-hand corner of the image. I had taken the shots while the camera was mounted on a tripod and for this particular series, I could not eliminate the railing. So, in editing it anew, I cloned out the railing and applied some of the newer processing skills that I’ve learned over the last four+ years since the bracketed shots were taken. I have to agree with Martin… the image looks much better without the distraction in the lower, right-hand corner. :D Thanks Martin!

This videographer was using a jib arm to lift a remote-controlled Blackbox video camera into the air at the ruins of the stone castle here. He and his assistant had been shooting video off the side of the path from this one spot for the entire afternoon. The counterweights at the bottom of the arm probably made this an arduous task for them to move the jib around on the steep terrain. The castle ruins are on top of the hill at the right just out of view in this scene. The lake below is one of the arms off of the Lake of the Ozarks.

The ruins of former Robert McClure Snyder's turn-of-the-20th-century stone castle walls sit on the edge of a high cliff overlooking a vast area of the Ozarks. His 5,000+ acre estate is now a part of the Ha Ha Tonka State Park in the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. More than 15 miles of trails wind through the park, which has sinkholes, natural bridges, caves and a part of the 1,000+ mile shoreline of the lake.

Hurricane forecasters will soon have a new tool to better understand and forecast storm intensity. A constellation of eight microsatellites, called NASA’s Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System mission, or CYGNSS, got a boost into Earth orbit at 8:37 a.m. EST today, Dec. 15, 2016, aboard an Orbital ATK Pegasus XL rocket.

The unique, air-launched vehicle was carried aloft by Orbital’s modified L-1011 aircraft, “Stargazer,” which took off from the Skid Strip runway at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida and deployed the three-stage Pegasus XL rocket at a predetermined drop point 39,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean and about 110 nautical miles east-northeast of Daytona Beach.

NASA’s F-18 support aircraft was used to provide live coverage of the Orbital ATK L-1011 air-launch of its Pegasus XL rocket carrying CYGNSS. This photo was taken by Armstrong videographer, Lori Losey, as the AFRC F-18 chased Orbital’s L-1011 carrier aircraft.

Huntmaster Hunt Unit

In an ongoing effort to provide opportunities for all of North Carolina’s outdoor enthusiasts, the N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission (WRC) will allow the public to use the Huntmaster Hunting Unit (Huntmaster) mobile hunting and wildlife viewing blind for organized disabled special-needs hunts.

Due to cooperative efforts between the N.C. Handicapped Sportsman (NCHS) and the WRC, 10 of these new lifts were purchased at a cost of $100,000 by the NCHS. The WRC provided $50,000 while the NCHS raised the other $50,000 from various donors.

The Huntmaster is a mobile hunting blind with a heavy-duty trailer that can be set up easily by one individual. They feature all-steel heavy-duty construction throughout, and offer a fail-safe hydraulic system powered via a heavy-duty, solar-powered, 12v deep-cycle battery. Set-up features include four rugged, steel-beam outriggers, each with adjustable stabilizers. The Huntmaster has a roomy 6x6 foot interior and can lift up to 750 pounds to 20 feet, providing not only a great vantage point, but also reducing the element of human scent for that hunt of a lifetime opportunity.

Designated wildlife depots within each of the agency’s nine districts will house the Huntmasters and offer their use via advanced reservation. The Huntmasters will be made available for organized disabled special-needs hunts only and will not be provided for individual use.

First priority will be given to WRC-organized events. Second priority will be to partner agencies/entities that allow public hunting or wildlife viewing opportunities for the disabled. Third priority will be given to organized hunting or wildlife viewing events that are put on by private groups (Note: the application form will require that the event is being conducted by an established organization and request the name of the organization as well). These Huntmasters may also be used under the same priority structure for use at expos or other special events to promote hunting and wildlife viewing opportunities available for disabled North Carolinians.

It is extremely important that every North Carolinian have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the state’s natural resources, whether disabled or not, and that WRC considers this goal as being paramount to providing opportunities for all outdoor recreationists in North Carolina. For a listing of additional outdoor opportunities in North Carolina, please visit our Web site at www.ncwildlife.org.

Trump, Hegseth, Noem and others are working to create situations in order to justify their occupation of cities. They are perpetrating and escalating violence. Their imbedded professional videographers and photographers are happily filming, splicing and editing, and disseminating falsehood through their media empires.

How did Stills phrase it, oh yeah, "perpetrating some kind of myth on us all. "

This is America, we are allowed to speak and display our displeasure with our government without fear for our safety.

Don't call her a 'cam girl' if you want to live. She was shooting the jockeys leaving the weigh-in room, as was I... and I hope I didn't inadvertently block her shot.

Meet Christopher, my brother-in-law. Also in charge of www.chrisacefilms.com. Anyone who needs a wedding videographer in So. Cal, hit him up. In part of doing a 52 project was to enhance and broaden my photography skills. Step out of the comfort box if you will. Decided to take my gear out and take advantage of some strobing. First time I ever brought my modifiers, light stands and flash out. Was a bit hestitant, but thought this worked out well.

Three nations. Nearly 10,000 miles. Seventy-six days on the rails.

One year ago today, Canadian Pacific 2816 — a historic 94-year-old steam locomotive — and her dedicated crew returned to Calgary, marking the triumphant conclusion of an unforgettable journey.

Inspired by my experience working alongside the incredible team of railroaders at CPKC, I created this video as a personal tribute to everyone who brought the Final Spike Steam Tour to life.

As a freelance videographer and photographer engaged by CPKC, I had the distinct privilege of documenting several of 2816’s test runs ahead of the official tour, which later spanned Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Stylistically, the video draws inspiration from Rocky Mountain Express by The Stephen Low Company and features footage I captured during 2816’s test runs and other moments from its return to Calgary.

Watch the video below and join in celebrating the people who brought this living, breathing machine across a continent—connecting communities and generations in a way never done before.

Please note: This video is a personal tribute created independently and is not affiliated with Rocky Mountain Express by The Stephen Low Company or with CPKC’s official short film, Pulse of the Continent: Final Spike Steam Tour.
