Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a red day at Color my world Daily and we celebrate flowers at Macro Mondays.

Honestly it is an awesome way to start a brand new week : red and flowers ! It can’t go wrong with such a beautiful « combo » don’t you think ?

So here we go, since I’m very bad with any kind of living flowers or plants, I had to use a fake, tiny paper flower from my local craft store.

I hope you will like my today’s picture ! And since I have my daily video conference this morning, see you later my friends !! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a pink or purple day Color my World Daily and the theme at the fabulous Smile on Saturday is the word smile.

When is the most perfect time of the year to practice your picture perfect smile ? Without any doubt it is just after 2 days of video conference Xmas parties with family and way too much gin and tonics for one person (even Polish lol).

After many, many technical problems, people talking too loud, people talking not loud enough, a video conference induce headache and many, many hours of pleasure in a Zoom meeting which looked a lot like an attempt to communicate with spirits in the Victorian era, Christmas 2020 is over.

I tried to see what my smile looks like in front of the mirror after my last Christmas 2020 party: pretty scary … Honestly I could easily play Joker in the Joker movie without any make up !

Luckily for us, the theme isn’t actually a smile but the « word smile » ! Very clever ! So here it is, Mr. Egg with his awesome and very fresh (not like mine) smile !

I wish you all an amazing day !! Stay well and safe my friends !! See you later ,my friends ! I truly need my beauty sleep this morning.…

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

When, after a tiring weekend with far too little sleep, you realize you'll be spending most of your day in deadly boring video conferencing.

I wish you all a better start into the week.

Approaching Wendover, this is the view across the valley towards Wendover Woods, the highest point in the Chilterns.

The workings in the middle of the photo are for HS2, there will be a massive bridge over the town.

HS2 is a white elephant that never made any economic or environmental sense, especially in the aftermath of this pandemic where new ways of working, and video conferencing will make the regular commute a thing of the past. And the estimated £105bn cost will go some way to help paying for the costs of this pandemic

Very popular these days for personal communication and meetings.

Happy Window Wednesday

The Keel, a build-to-rent development managed by Allsop, sits in Queen’s Dock, Liverpool. Comprising of 240 apartments overlooking the River Mersey, residents benefit from onsite concierge and a private residents’ gym.

The Keel, which is located on a private quay on Queen’s Dock, was converted from the former HMRC offices into a complex of waterside apartments in 2015.

The development is set to get a £300,000 renovation, despite being built just six years ago. With the shift of many people working from home, The Keel has decided to bring in designer Jasper Sanders to redesign communal areas. Around £300,000 will be spent creating an area where residents can sit and work outside of their apartments, host meetings and take video conference calls.

several fires suddenly popped up in our vicinity, houses got singed 100 km to our north, where high winds whipped up a fire, and the fire down south, across the 49 th parralel, is pushing up the ridges into our view.

good thing the winds were from the west!

this morning there was no sign of fire or smoke from there, must have been a greassfire that traveled up with sw winds that got pretty strong in places.

Then the latest news came from the West kelowna area under imminent danger of the White lake fire"

Fifty to 60 structures have been lost to the White Rock Lake wildfire, the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre says.

In a video conference with media, Monday, EOC director Brian Reardon said the exact number is not yet known.

Those homes were in the Killiney Beach and Ewings Landing areas.

Reardon said conditions Sunday night were "extremely unsettling" and that fire crews are working "as hard as they can."

He called the last 24 hours "a big challenge" and said the fire is still burning out of control in residential areas as conditions change rapidly.

He expressed frustration that North Westside Fire Rescue had to pull its boat away from the fire fight to rescue about 10 people who had ignored evacuation orders and stayed behind. He also urged boaters to stay away from the area to allow space for firefighting aircraft to work.

Approximately 3,000 people from 1,463 properties remain evacuated due to the fire.

BC Wildfire Service incident commander Mark Healey said rain is hoped for this afternoon and moderate temperatures in the low to mid 20s, which will help in the fire fight, but that north winds are forecast tonight, which may pose a challenge.

He said the fire has shown extreme behaviour in the Killiney area and noted crews were pulled out of the area about 2 a.m. after the fire crossed both sides of Westside Road and blocked firefighters to both the north and south. Until they could safely leave, they sheltered in the Westshore Estates area.

Located downtown near City Hall and Hemming Plaza, the Main Library opened in November 2005, replacing the Haydon Burns Library. Designed by the firm of the 2011 Driehaus Prize winner, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the new library is almost three times the size of the Haydon Burns building. The North Laura facility is 300,000 square feet (28,000 m2) with the capacity to hold one million books. A 600-space parking garage across from the library building on Duval Street makes the Main Library easily accessible. State-of-the-art technology offers 250 public computers, satellite, and video conferencing capabilities with infrastructure to support future technologies. On April 18, 2012, the AIA Florida Chapter placed the Jacksonville Public Library – Main Library on its list of Florida Architecture: 100 Years. 100 Places.

In addition to the Library and the Conference Center, the Library building hosts a bookstore and a cafe. The BOOKtique bookstore, run by the Friends of the Library, opened concurrently with the Library. In 2013, the BOOKtique was closed to make way for The Lounge @ 303 North. After a year and a half of legal wrangling and construction, on May 14, 2007, Shelby's Café opened inside the concession space in the Main Library. Unfortunately, the concession stand closed in 2011.

Not much to do, no video conferences, which also means less makeup

Demonstrating new hand-made masks via video conference call. Who makes the masks in your family?

Playing with my new heels during a company video conference! Just love the sun rays glittering in the stockings and high heel!

Not much to do, no video conferences, which also means less makeup

During another waste-of-time video-conference this morning, suddenly I heard very loud buzzing sounds of old propeller planes flying overhead. I looked out and of course it was a number of vintage warplanes participating in the Remembrance Day (Armistice Day / Veterans Day) flyover marking 11 November.

I missed some fine opportunities to take some interesting images but luckily soon after the meeting ended, four of the planes returned to their base and I was able to capture these four Havard Mark II (North American Aviation T-6 Texan).

Lest we forget.

Here I am all by myself after spending 80 minutes with a few dear girlfriends on one of those ubiquitous video conference calls. I had a wonderful time seeing and listening to those sweet girls as we talked about our lives in this friggin' pandemic and our glorious plans for the happier days ahead. Especially excited about our 5 days at a beach house this Fall.

Looking pretty tired and drunk in this photo because I was.

At the top level in the conference room is program manager Brett. He is on a video conference with an irate customer and is trying to explain why the contract he underbid and oversold is running cost overruns. Looks like he will have to “manage” and come up with a new “process” or “metric” that will slow down his engineers further while he gets to leave early to golf!

One level down, test engineer Jorge is in the firing range plinking away with an M60 converted to fire JUICE rounds. While he was initially dubious about the proposal, it’s hard to argue with the results.

In the machine shop, mechanical engineer Tera is putting the finish touches on a new assault rifle for testing with the Crusader hardsuit. Sharp as a whip, Tera has put in long hours on the nights and weekends to make sure that her work shines.

Finally, down in the lobby is the security guard, Wade. Wade went to school for 15 years to get a doctorate in Communications. Since the local coffee shop isn’t hiring, this is the next best thing he could line up. Don’t be like Wade.

Portrait of Jeanne Hébuterne [1919]

Metmuseum

Modigliani depicted his mistress, Jeanne Hébuterne (1898-1920), in more than twenty works but never in the nude. Her casual white chemise suggests modesty while also hiding her pregnancy. When Modigliani died from tuberculosis in 1920, Jeanne committed suicide the following day.
