Shot from the little hill south of the Parthenon. Info from their web site: The National Observatory of Athens is the oldest Research Center in Greece (founded in 1842), encompassing a broad range of scientific fields, a Geoastrophysics Museum and a Historic Observatory.
This is a blend of two photos done in Photomoatix Exposure Fusion. Then Topaz remask to replace the building and the sky with the originals from the darker photo. Further postprocessing in PS using Nik Filters, and several curves and vibrance layers on many layers.
This is the most colourful and iridescent kingfisher I’ve ever seen. There is no vibrance or saturation on this image.
I did shoot this little group of trees last winter already. At that time, this scenery was looking almost monochrom. When I stood here I couldn't imagine, that it could possibly look like that too. Now its almost dripping from colour, life and energy. Simply springtime. (The winter version: www.flickr.com/photos/ralfs-fotos/50827917212)
Macro Monday theme - Vibrant Minimalism
Our coreopsis Lil Bang Daybreak came back to give us some vibrant colors for this cold and dreary week.
Happy Macro Monday!
I love flowers in general, and they are a constant presence in most photos of my flickr stream.
Similar to animals, which I also love, I am always curious to know the symbolic meanings behind each one.
Lotuses are not only some of the most beautiful flowers that exist, but they are also associated with very special symbolic meanings, such as, innocence, purity, inner strength and tranquillity. It also represents spiritual enlightenment (happening like the blossoming one petal at a time), detachment, and new beginnings.

Return flight from Rome to Germany in December 2018. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Rückflug von Rom nach Deutschland im Dezember 2018. Es war atemberaubend schön.
All it takes is a little Anna Hummingbird to brighten up the overall monotone shades of winter!
Hummingbirds are one of the smallest of all warm blooded animals and lack downy feathers that are typical for many bird species. Due to their combined characteristics of small body size and lack of insulation, hummingbirds rapidly lose body heat to their surroundings. Even sleeping hummingbirds have huge metabolic demands that must be met simply to survive the night when they cannot forage. To meet this energetic challenge, hummingbirds save enough energy to survive cold nights by lowering their internal thermostat at night, becoming hpothermic. This reduced physiological site is an evolutionary adaptation that is referred to as torpor. Torper is a type of deep sleep where an animal lowers its metabolic rate by as much as 95%. By doing so, a torpid hummingbird consumes up to 50 times less energy when torpid than when awake.
Another of my images full of summer blooms. Really looking forward to adding to my floral library this year.
Thira may well conquered one's imagination once you've set eyes on it. With multicoloured cliffs soaring over 300m from a sea-drowned caldera, it rests in the middle of the indigo Aegean, looking like a giant slab of layered cake. The island spoons the vast crater left by one of the biggest volcanic eruptions in history. Smaller islands curl around the fragmented western edge of the caldera, but it is the main island of Thira that will take your breath away with its snow drift of white Cycladic houses lining the cliff tops and, in places, spilling like icy cornices down the terraced rock.
Last night on Lake Disston in Florida the sky and lake looked like they were on fire. The pictures do not do it justice, it was truly breathtaking. No saturation or vibrance were added to these images, this is truly how it looked. :)
cappadocia - the best place on the earth for hot air balloon. The region is the place where nature and history come together most beautifully within the world. While geographic events are forming strange rock formations, during the historical period, humans had carried the signs of thousand years old civilizations with carving houses and churches within these earth pillars and decorating them with frescoes. there are many places that are "must see" in cappadocia, such as; the various "fairy chimneys", goreme valley, goreme national park, rock churches, the underground cities of kaymakli, derinkuyu or ozkonak, zelve valley, avanos, with its pottery, the uchisar and ortahisar rock fortress, the ihlara valley, red valley and soganli.

A charming balcony in Tbilisi, Georgia, draped in a lush cascade of ivy, offers a picturesque blend of nature and architecture. The ornate wrought iron railing holds colorful flowerpots, adding warmth and vibrance. Reflections in the tall windows echo the surrounding greenery, creating a tranquil, storybook-like atmosphere. This serene corner captures the timeless elegance and quiet beauty of Tbilisi’s old-world charm, bathed in soft summer light.
This was taken on my mobile phone with the assistance of two static lights at different power settings. I love trying different methods with my photography and although I rarely use the camera on my phone i enjoyed the result.
For this entry in the "Love is in the Air " contest, I decided to go with a more traditional interpretation of Love. I wanted the colors to be vibrant to stand for the essence of Love.
I am sooo grateful to the gorgeous Jyotsana Johar (ayudhapurusha) for participating to this, and her amazing patience. Also, look at this divine tan lady? Isn't she to die for? I hope you guys will like it ♥. I had much much fun doing that.
