It's crazy how much avatars have changed since I was last in SL. It's been really fun discovering the beautiful new ways that creators are choosing to express themselves with all of the skins, hairs and clothing options.
This Natalia skin by .MILA. with freckles from MILA (which I take it has been out for a while but let me live!!) are crazy good. Rounded off with the Lilly from Belle Epoque, a store that I really enjoyed exploring the other day!
Excited to keep making discoveries, I feel similar to a grandmother continuing to tell everyone about this cool new thing on the market called the iPhone.

At the entrance of Kio Zen Garden, you will find traditional Japanese New Year decorations, as we prepare to welcome the arrival of 2025. These decorations may be small and easy to overlook, but the floral and bamboo arrangements on either side of the gate are called "Kadomatsu", and the rope ornament hanging in the center of the gate is called "Shimenawa".
Kadomatsu are auspicious decorations displayed to welcome Toshigami-sama, the deity of the New Year. They serve as a guide for the deity to find the home and also act as protection to keep out evil spirits.
Shimenawa marks a sacred space where the deity has descended. Traditionally, it wards off impurities and evil spirits, functioning as a kind of protective barrier. Displaying a Shimenawa at the entrance signifies that this is a home welcoming Toshigami-sama.
These decorations are typically displayed from the end of the year through the period called "Matsu no Uchi". This refers to the time when Toshigami-sama is believed to reside. The duration varies by region—until January 7th in eastern Japan (around Tokyo) and until January 15th, the "Little New Year," in western Japan (around Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Hyogo).
After Matsu no Uchi, Kadomatsu and Shimenawa are traditionally burned in rituals such as "Dondo Yaki" or "Otakiage" held at Shinto shrines across Japan. While the practices may vary slightly by region, these two decorations are essential to Japanese New Year celebrations and are displayed at homes and buildings nationwide during this festive time.
