Kim's theme for this week was "lit from behind or silhouette" and I had two ideas. This was the second one. It was quite a technical challenge to shoot and process and I hope is an indicator of how far I've progressed over the course of this project. It's wonderful trying new things, my vexel image was hard work, but it gave me a comfort level with the pen tool that will stay with me for some considerable time and I used it in the post-processing of this image.
My self-portrait project involves taking a picture each week that I post the following week on a Thursday. Feel free to critique - I welcome it. Thanks
One of those rare WTF moments today - I did not have a clue what this was, and looking it up and finding that it's called a Vexel, I'm none the wiser.
Same concept with some tweaked settings and a wholly different concept for the color map. Rendered at 256 megapixels.

Zerolta 4, the Zerolta system
“All members of squad Snowbird, report to Hanger 2, your transport is ready.”
Major Benjamin Garret slung his Beretta M9 SMG over his shoulder, checked his spare ammo and secondary weapons, and then exited his room.
The rest of Benjamin’s squad joined him on the way to the hanger, armed and ready for their coming mission.
Entering the massive hanger, they passed by a multitude of bays holding various types of starcraft, heading for a Northrup Grumman Valkyrie Heavy Dropship parked in the center of the floor, near the doors. Behind the dark-gray dropship sat two G26 Alligator IFVs, painted neutral gray, with navy-blue identification stripes.
The Alligator’s two-man crews stood outside their vehicles, awaiting the arrival of Benjamin and his squad.
Coming up to the IFVs, Benjamin saluted the waiting crews, then directed his squads members to their respective vehicles. Master Sergeant Bills was in charge of one, Benjamin the other.
The marines filed into the Alligators, taking their seats and strapping in.
Once the marines were seated, the Alligators were started, and driven up the ramp of the Valkyrie (which bore the name Arrow).
Benjamin faintly heard the ramp close, and then the powerful jet engines of the Arrow thundered to life, being able to be heard even through the walls of the Alligator.
“Hey, I bet I take down more hostiles then the rest of ya’,” Lieutenant Vexel shouted cockily over the engine noise.
“The objective is to capture them alive, Lieutenant Vexel,” Benjamin said, stressing the word ‘alive’.
Vexel looked mortified, until Benjamin continued lightly,
“But if it does come to that, I’d put my money on Sergeant Tine. She’s the best shot among us.”
Sergeant Maddlyn Tine was the unit’s sniper, and a deadly one too, having earned herself the nickname “Take-em-out Tine”
She grinned smugly, as Vexel relaxed, relieved Benjamin hadn’t taken it wrong.
Outside, as the Arrow powered up, alarms sounded, warning all personnel to retire from the main hanger, as the hanger was de-pressurized, and one of the huge, multi-story doors rumbled open.
Receiving the go signal, the Arrow lifted off and left the hanger, descending past the colossal outrigger-mounted 30-inch rail-gun, on a course for the LZ, an abandoned lot in Taliai City’s municipal district, five minutes from the target building.
Inside both Alligators, the marines talked and joked, a time-honored method for dealing with nerves, something there was bound to be plenty of on the fifteen-minute ride to the surface.
On the bridge of the Excelsior, the comms officer notified the ZCD the dropship was on its way, as the hanger door shut behind the Arrow.
The mission had begun.

not perfect *sighs* but my first trying to do something like this...
Briefing room 12A, USS Excelsior
Major Benjamin Garret strode through the door of briefing room 12A, white helmet under one arm, noting as he did that the frame was in need of a new coat of paint.
Inside 12A, the other eleven marines of his squad, Snowbird, snapped to attention as their commander entered the room, instantly recognizable by his short-cropped brown hair, and roguish mustache.
“At ease,” Benjamin said, crossing to the head of the table the marines were gathered around.
Turning to face his squad, Benjamin placed his helmet on the table, next to a computer monitor. A flat-screen TV was hanging on one wall, synced to the computer.
“Good morning everyone. As you may already know, we have been selected for a mission on Zerolta 4, in the Zerolta system.”
He paused, and brought up a file on the computer monitor.
“At precisely 14:00 yesterday, we picked up a message from the U.S Consulate in Taliai City, the capital of Zerolta 4. The message was from the Zerolta Constable Division, their version of a police department, and was delivered to the Consulate, who in turn transmitted it to us.
The message was a request; The ZCD has discovered, in an abandoned warehouse at the edge of Taliai City’s municipal district, a Hypnosoda lab.
“They have conducted extensive reconnaissance, and according to their findings, there are too many Hibirdians in and around the warehouse for their already stretched-thin Division to handle. They have thus requested, as the U.S is close allies with the Zeroltians, our help in raiding the Hypnosoda lab.”
Benjamin looked around at his fellow marines.
“As the closest USIN starship to Zerolta 4, it falls to us to lend the necessary aid. Our squad has been chosen to lead the raid, with two more squads standing by for backup. Any questions before I lay out our attack plan?”
Lieutenant Burke Anders raised his hand.
“What’s Hypnosoda?”
Benjamin held up a translucent soda can, filled with a bubbly, light blue liquid.
“This is a can of Hypnosoda.
Hypnosoda, first produced on Wer 224 by Hibirdian drug dealers, is an incredibly potent liquid drug, very sought after on alien black markets. It is highly illegal in over 152 systems, and heavily regulated in another 1,000.
Hypnosoda causes, along with the obvious high, a hypnotic effect in users, putting them in a almost trance-like state. This is especially dangerous, as the user is very easily influenced by by outside forces. Hence the name.”
Benjamin scanned the faces before him.
“Anyone else?”
Everyone shook their heads.
“Right. Now, working in conjunction with the ZCD, our objective, if at all possible, is to apprehend as many of the Hibirdians as possible, and recover all Hypnosoda products intact.
Be forewarned,” here he paused and looked around at his squad, “If, for some un-foreseeable reason one of the containers holding Hypnosoda is breached, get as far away from it as possible. When ingested, Hypnosoda causes a hypnotic state in the user. But, when Hypnosoda comes into contact with exposed flesh, well,” Benjamin shook his head, “that’s when things get really ugly. Hypnosoda has been known to cause horrific rashes, skin cancer, and in the worsts cases, it can lead to a slow and painful death.”
With each condition, he brought up a photo on the TV.
Several marines shivered at the last one.
He now brought up a map of the warehouse layout, as well as the surrounding area.
Getting out a laser pointer, he began to highlight several spots, talking as he did.
“There are two entrances to the warehouse. The main entrance, at the south end of the building, and the back entrance, at the eastern rear corner. The ZCD’s presence will be an armored car waiting at the main entrance with eight constables, and a standard squad car at the back with two constables.
The plan is for the armored car’s constables, along with Master Sergeant Bills, Corporal Aines, Lieutenants Dern & Seod, Private 1st Class Jenks, and Captain Vern, to enter through the front, distracting the hostiles and drawing their fire away from the back.
Myself, along with Lieutenants Anders & Vexel, Sergeant Tine, Lance Corporal Berkins, and Private Woods, will enter through the back entrance. We will be accompanied by the two constables.
Once inside, all personnel will fan out, and trap the enemy in a pincer movement, cutting off all exit routes and surrounding the hostiles. After the hostiles are subdued, the ZCD will bring two prisoner transports out from behind a nearby warehouse. Once all prisoners are secure, all Hypnosoda products will be collected, and handed over to the ZCD, which will dispose of them in a safe location. Any questions?”
Everyone shook their heads no.
Benjamin nodded, turned off the computer, then looked up at his squad.
“Briefing adjourned. Report to the armory in five minutes. Dismissed.”
Everyone filed out.

A package arrived at our house just this morning and my mom woke me up just to gave this to me. I was in shocked because I thought it is going to arrive on Monday but fortunately, I got my lens baller today! Yeehee! :> I bought this one from Gwilen. She is a good vexel artist and a lomographer as well. Thank you so much dear! :)
Question: which photo do you like the most, the one I uploaded or the one in the comment?
