Am Wochenende vom 30. August bis 1. September 2013 fand in Goslar, Vienenburg und im Kloster Wöltingerode der 33. Tag der Niedersachsen statt. Aus diesem Anlass bespannten die 52 1360 des VEV und die 41 096 der Dampflok-Gemeinschaft 41 096 e.V. Sonderzüge zwischen Braunschweig, Vienenburg und Goslar.
Die Strecke zwischen Vienenburg und Oker verläuft größtenteils schnurgerade am Rande eines Hanges, dessen Bewaldung einen erhöhten Fotostandpunkt mit freier Sicht auf die Strecke unmöglich macht. Ich entschied mich deshalb für einen Standort in der Nähe des Gleiskörpers und wählte als Hintergrund und Bildbegrenzung nach links das alte Gebäude des ehemaligen Posten 31 bei Steinfeld. Der Wind wehte am 30. August kräftig aus westlicher Richtung, so daß die imposante Rauchfahne aus dem Schlot der 41 096 den Blick auf die schönen alten Eilzugwagen unbeeinflusst ließ.

New on 30th September 1994, Volvo 940 M967 VEV is seen here on 26th October 2024, having just passed it's 30th birthday. At it's most recent MOT in March 2024 it had covered 166,000 miles, averaging around 2000-3000 miles per year. The rear seats were folded down and the back full of boxes, wicker baskets and cat carriers, indicating it's continued existence as a load lugger.
