Taken for the macro mondays weekly assignment: cloth/Textile My late grandfather gave my dad this vest several years ago and my dad gave it to me about four years ago. Someday I will be able to give this to one of my sons. Top quality, in its day it must have costed a fortune.

“Vestidos simultáneos “ de Sonia Delaunay o la historia de un cuadro y de su autora.
En 1917, Sonia se encontraba en Barcelona cuando estalla la Revolución rusa y la caída del zar. Al dejar de recibir sus rentas decide aplicar sus conocimientos de pintura al mundo de la moda. Se establece con su familia en Madrid y abre una tienda en 1919. Diseña el vestuario de los ballets rusos de Diághilev (también exiliado en Madrid) y animada por sus éxitos en este campo, en 1923 abre otra tienda en París: Boutique Simultanée (Boutique Simultánea).
Sus vestidos mezclan recortes de diferentes telas de lujo y ordinarias texturas, colores lisos y estampados, recorta mangas, acorta faldas, para conseguir un efecto de modernidad. Apollinaire define su primer vestido como “pintura viviente”.
En este cuadro, el vestido central había sido diseñado para la actriz de cine Gloria Swanson. Acompañando os traigo un poco de música de esa época:

Die Veste Wachsenburg gehört zu den "Drei Gleichen" in Thüringen. Erste Bauten auf diesem Berg gab es vermutlich bereits um 930. Die Burg hat eine wechselvolle Geschichte mit verschiedenen Besitzern und vielen Umbauten hinter sich. 1991 wurde das Land Thüringen Eigentümer der Veste. Seit 2001 ist die Veste mit Hotel und Restaurant nach längerer Pachtzeit in Privatbesitz.

De filmische tragiek van concubines, het schimmige rijk van opium handelaren, vastgoed magnaten gokkers, van traditie en riksja,s tot luxe in elk denkbare vorm.
Vesting Naarden
Because of its strategic location, the town of Naarden was laid out as a fortress with double city walls, a moat, bastions, city gates and dozens of functional buildings like weapon storages or soldiers' quarters. It became part of the Dutch waterline; the land around the fortress was excavated so that the land was lower and thus easier to inundate.
In 1350 werd Naarden gesticht door de graaf van Holland. Door de strategische ligging werd de stad ingericht als vesting met stadswallen, torens en poorten. De Grote Kerk vormde vanaf ca. 1479 het bruisende hart van de vesting, een belangrijk herkenningspunt tussen land en water.
Tussen 1673 en 1685 werden de vestingwerken van Naarden uitgebouwd die deze stad haar karakteristieke stervorm hebben gegeven. Het werd onderdeel van de Hollandse Waterlinies. De gronden om de vesting heen werden afgegraven, zodat het land lager lag kwam te liggen en dus gemakkelijker onder water te zetten (inunderen) was.

Drei Gleichen is the name of a medieval castle ensemble in Thuringia as well as the mountain ensemble on which the castles stand.
The Three Gleichen include Gleichen Castle near Wandersleben, Mühlburg Castle near Mühlberg and Wachsenburg Castle near Holzhausen.
