Just a hint of sunset colour (and an even smaller hint of the moon towards top left) as I headed back alongside Alnwick Castle golf course after an exploratory wander about this time last year.
Beyond the current 'bounds' of the Cape Henlopen State Park Fishing Pier, one can see the vestiges of the old Army Dock, over which the fishing pier was built. Rather than continue the entire length of the old pier, the State cut it short, leaving the old pilings jutting from the water. The dock was used by the Army, which was charged with mining the entrance to the Delaware Bay to keep marauding U-Boats away from the upriver refineries. The mines were serviced by this pier to which they were rotated between the maintenance building and being 'on station' underwater protecting the bay's entrance. The water that surrounds these sentinels of the past has been rendered into soft milky texture due to the motion blur induced by a nearly 3 minute exposure.
provide us with memories. Broken as they may become; they endow hope by freeing us to embrace... gratitude.

Things change and I find that as I am growing older, I really don't like change, even though it can be the herald of new and better things. This deserted and abandoned house evokes vestiges of a rural, farmland community that is giving way to a small city favored by retirees. I don't want to let go of the quiet times in my little world.
"Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody." ~ Stephen Chbosky
"All changes, even the most longed for, have their own melancholy: for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another."
~ Anatole France

The reddish colored hills seen with their glacier vestiges in Gibbs Fjord were resplendent as seen in this afternoon vista.
