Thumbnail version of my two cats calmly sharing this comfy and spacious chair, enjoying the heater vent, and watching amazing squirrel TV. Why go out into the cold for that? Do keep in mind that they rarely hang out so close to each other so this was a Boxing Day Miracle ;-)
This wonderfully textured lizard was sunning himself on the patio of the restaurant we were eating at in Simpson's Bay, Sint Maarten.
He was about 5 feet long, nose to tail, and wasn't going to let a few tourists interrupt him.

Up in the cold, but stunningly beautiful island of Hokkaido is Sapporo, the island's largest city. Though not as connected compared to Tokyo or the Kansai cities, the city is served by an impressive rail system via JR, three subways, and their streetcar.
Beginning in 1909, the Sapporo Streetcar, better known locally as Sapporo Shiden, operates on a circular route connecting the downtown areas with inner suburban areas of southern Sapporo. Tram frequency is anywhere from 3 minutes during the rush hours, to 7 throughout the day. Their system uses a combination of new 1100 and 1200 Type LRV's, and a substantial fleet of 210-250, 3300, and 8500 Types. Their oldest tram in service was originally built in 1958.
Here, Shiden #252 heads counterclockwise on the loop away from Susukino. Just like Shinjuku, with its neon billboards, abundance of shops, izakaya and food, this area is the center of nightlife in Sapporo.

Inspired by the magnificent work of Ben Hunter, I decided to play around with a letterbox version of this shot (click here to see the original). I converted to b&w for a little extra atmosphere... and besides, there's been far too much colour in my recent work! ;-)
