The Grunwick dispute was a British industrial dispute involving trade union recognition at the Grunwick Film Processing Laboratories in Chapter Road, Dollis Hill in the London suburb of Willesden, that led to a two-year strike between 1976 and 1978.
During a decade of industrial unrest, the Grunwick dispute became a cause célèbre of trade unionism and labour relations law, and "at its height involved thousands of trade unionists and police in confrontations, ... with over 500 arrests on the picket line and frequent police violence". The total of 550 arrests made during the strike was at the time the highest such figure in any industrial dispute since the General Strike of 1926. Left-wing journalist Paul Foot described the dispute as "a central battleground between the classes and between the parties": 1:15 The dispute was reported nightly on the national television news, depicting the often violent clashes between the supporters of the strikers and the Metropolitan Police's Special Patrol Group. Grunwick was the first time that this police unit had been deployed in an industrial dispute. The mostly female, immigrant, East African Asian strikers – dubbed "strikers in saris" by the news media – were led by Jayaben Desai, whose membership of the union was later suspended[failed verification] following her hunger strike outside the Trades Union Congress (TUC) headquarters in November 1977. This was also the first dispute where the majority of strikers were from an ethnic minority and still received widespread support from the labour movement – previous disputes involving immigrant workers which had taken place in Leicester and Southall had "remained marginalised" and had even led to "open and ugly racism on the part of white union members and their leaders".
The incumbent Labour government commissioned the Scarman Inquiry, chaired by Lord Scarman, which recommended both union recognition and re-instatement of the workers, but the employer, backed by the right-wing National Association For Freedom (NAFF) and the Conservative Party, rejected the recommendations. The TUC subsequently withdrew their support and the workers' strike committee announced the end of the dispute in June 1978. The repercussions of the strike for British industrial relations were far-reaching, significantly weakening the British trades union movement. The Conservative Party and other members of the right wing saw this as a major political and ideological victory, preparing the ground for Conservative success in the 1979 general election and their subsequent curbing of the unions' power in the 1980s.

Marabou Stork
The marabou stork (Leptoptilos crumenifer) is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. It breeds in Africa south of the Sahara, in both wet and arid habitats, often near human habitation, especially landfill sites. It is sometimes called the "undertaker bird" due to its shape from behind: cloak-like wings and back, skinny white legs, and sometimes a large white mass of "hair".
The marabou stork is a massive bird: large specimens are thought to reach a height of 152 cm (60 in) and a weight of 9 kg (20 lb). A wingspan of 3.7 m (12 ft) was accepted by Fisher and Peterson, who ranked the species as having the largest wing-spread of any living bird. Even higher measurements of up to 4.06 m (13.3 ft) have been reported, although no measurement over 3.20 m (10.5 ft) has been verified. It is often credited with the largest spread of any landbird, to rival the Andean condor; more typically, however, these storks measure 225–287 cm (7–9 ft) across the wings, which is about a foot less than the average Andean condor wingspan and nearly two feet less than the average of the largest albatrosses and pelicans. Typical weight is 4.5–8 kg (9.9–17.6 lb), unusually as low as 4 kg (8.8 lb), and length (from bill to tail) is 120 to 130 cm (47 to 51 in). Females are smaller than males. Bill length can range from 26.4 to 35 cm (10.4 to 13.8 in). Unlike most storks, the three Leptoptilos species fly with the neck retracted like a heron.

IMPORTANT ADVICE
Establishing good provenance increases the desirability and price of a work of art as well as giving the peoples of the world vital information and insight into its history.
However if you are thinking about buying part of High Road Tottenham in order to own this important artwork, before parting company with your cash to the bloke driving a lorry load of masonry, do consult an independent expert or appraiser.

Training Safeguards Inspectors: Hot Cell and Glovebox Training in Georgia
The IAEA verifies that nuclear material remains in peaceful use. To do this, nuclear safeguards inspectors regularly carry out on-site inspections at nuclear facilities around the world. Safeguards inspectors undertake regular training to ensure that they have the knowledge and experience to carry out inspections. Around half an hour drive from Tblisi, Georgia, sits the Andronikashvili Institute of Physics. The IAEA regularly holds week-long training courses for inspectors at the institute on how to apply nuclear safeguards to hot cells and glove boxes.

The idea of building the present cathedral began as early as 1929. Near the end of 1934 upon the arrival from Serbia of the newly consecrated Bishop John (Maximovitch) of Shanghai, he supervised the completion of building the cathedral, and was dedicated to our Lady of the "Surety of Sinners" icon. The name of this icon is from the Russian "Sporuchnitsa" which is untranslatable but can also be rendered as "Intercessions of Sinners".
Most of the Orthodox in China were Russians. After the establishment of Soviet Regime, thousands of Russians fled to China. In 1930s there were totally 5 Orthodox churches in Shanghai, and the Russian Orthodox Church also erected dioceses in Peking, Harbin, Tianjin and Hankow. After 1949, most Russians left China and the Orthodox community dwindled. In 1965 after Simeon Du, Orthodox Bishop of Shanghai died, the Cathdral was closed. The final divine service in the Cathedral was Bishop Du's Requiem Mass. During Cultural Revolution the building was occupied by a factory and the icons inside the Cathedral were devastated.
In July 1988, the Committee of Cultural Heritage began repairing the building. On March 18, 1994 the building was recognized as a a city-level cultural relic preservation unit. Until recently it has been used by "The Dome" bar restaurant. It was verified in October 2005 to be empty.
In 2007, the Municipal Housing Bureau mandated the restoration of the Cathedral to prepare it as a historical museum.
Juba, 29 June 2022: Today, UNMISS and the Joint Verification Monitoring Mechanism (JVMM) held workshop in Juba, which intended to develop a mutual understanding of the challenges faced by both entities and identify measures to enhance cooperation. The workshop's aim was to deliberate on the jointly approved Guidelines for Operational level Coordination of Movement for UNMISS, including ensuring freedom of movement at the local level and to identify further areas for co-operation.
This workshop is a continuation of the first UNMISS-JVMM forum conducted in July last year. The previous workshop helped to establish a positive environment and provided a platform for significant interaction between UNMISS and JVMM to develop a mutual understanding of the challenges faced by both sides and identify measures to enhance cooperation towards achieving peace and stability.
