On our tour of the Dingle Peninsula, we stopped at Ventry Beach. Dark clouds moved quickly overhead, and the wet sand reflected the changing light. While we hiked for about ten minutes along the shore, a rain shower swept across the beach — showing how quickly the weather shifts on Ireland’s Atlantic coast.

While working on a coffee table book about Ireland, I came across this photograph from Ventry Beach — one that didn't make it into the first curation, but now I'm not so sure it should have been left out.

 

Taken on the Dingle Peninsula, it shows a quiet moment between passing showers. Dark clouds rolled overhead, and the wet sand mirrored the shifting light. Within minutes, the rain swept across the beach, changing everything again.

 

Looking at it now, I think it captures something essential about Ireland's Atlantic coast — beauty shaped by weather, light, and constant movement.
