Friends, I got a used 24mm prime lens (Tokina) for reversal photography and I am very happy with the results. I get better DOF and magnification. Without adding any extension tubes I get a whopping 2.4X just with the lens. My first target with this lens is a common housefly making a bubble with the regurgitated fluid. Its fun and I'm enjoying it !!!

I always think of Gustavo Mazzarollo whenever I see nice macros of compound eyes of insects. You would also if you see this. Yesterday I saw this beautiful fly in my garden.
This is a drone-fly. He co-operated very well. I used a 24mm Tokina prime reversed on D90, my new pocession.

Last Thursday night there was a heavy shower in Vellore and I went to bed happily because I know the next morning all the plants in the garden would be laden with lovely rain drops. As expected I found this oleander(அரளி) plant was decorated with lot of rain drops. Here these drops are refracting the leaves of the plant beautifully !!! You can even see the clouds and sky in each drop !! World in a drop, fascinating, isn't it ?

A short Chrysanthemum plant in our garden, smiling with bright yellow blooms is the latest favourite of our family !! When it bloomed with vibrant yellow petals, the centre of the flower is covered with small closed florets arranged neatly. After some days those florets started blooming and it is a wonderful sight to behold !!! I hope more winged friends will come to gather nectar and pollen from these florets in the days to come !!

Line-up of tiny dew drops on dry flowers (like dandelion) in Senganatham hills near my town. Shot with Canon 24mm pancake armed with a Raynox macro add-on lens mounted on EOS 1200D. The lens is very impressive.

If you think it is honey these black ants are sipping you are wrong !! It is just plain water !! When I was shooting in the garden I sipped a little water and kept the water glass back on the floor. A little water spilled on the floor and within no time they were there and there was a lot of pull-push to get access to the water. Poor creatures !!
As usual summer is starting severely. Hope we will face it !!

Yesterday we had some rain in Vellore which was a great relief after a long session of scorching heat.
The white circles you see in the bokeh are jasmine flowers far away in the opposite side of the street !!

After a rainy day I saw this tiny (around 2mm) red ant clinging to a drop on an oleander leaf. At first I thought he was drinking water from that drop. Then only I found he was sticking to the drop due to surface tension !! After taking this I released him from the tension !!!

This year the rains started late here in my place and it is always a joy to receive rain. And it is more joyful to witness the "after the rains" scenes. Several tiny water droplets resting on leaves refracting an orange gerbera !!! A delight to see through the viewfinder !!!
