Sometimes when lacking a bit of inspiration I find it helpful to concentrate for a while on just one subject. This particular evening I decided to just shoot these lifeguard vehicle tracks on the beach. It makes a change from rocks and pools!

Pinglin District (a.k.a. Ping-Lin is a rural district of southeastern New Taipei City, Taiwan. It is the third-largest district of New Taipei City and it is located in the mountain area connecting to Yilan County on the east coast.
Pinglin is part of the water district of the greater Taipei area as the Feicui Dam is located in the neighboring Shiding District, so land development is restricted. Pinglin is most known for producing pouchong tea. The Pinglin Tea Museum is the world's largest tea museum. Over 80% of its residents are tea growers or are involved in the tea business.
Snow sits on Cretaceous sedimentary rocks near the crest of Torchlight Dome, an anticline east of Basin Wyoming.
Headlights pierce through on-going bouts of frozen precipitation as Canadian National's L53981 21 local trades the dense populous of their origin point at Ispheming for the remote wilderness of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, pattering through a reverse S-curve just outside the hamlet of Diorite during a heavy winter solstice snow squall. Polishing off the freshly dusted jointed rail of former DSS&A trackage, a pair of six-axle EMDs and their measly 10-car consist have only just begun the long and slow 10 mph, 50 mile westward crawl across the Marquette Range Sub toward the train's terminus at L' Anse, MI. A brief couple minutes would soon tick away before the train would slowly pass on and out of sight, allowing these woods to once again to return to their cold, tranquil state.
Two shorelines of Lorne Lake, on the left, a steep bank with a vehicle track and on the right side, a forest with shadows along the shoreline ice. It’s a great day to be outdoors. Which shoreline, the left or right side, receives the most sun light?
There are so many ATVs, SUVs, Motorcycles, etc. at this park it is difficult to find a place where there are no vehicle tracks all over the dunes. If you walk around in the sand for an hour or two you can sometimes find a place that has not been overwhelmed with vehicle tracks.
Was a really fast moving train (about 50mph) so I opened up the lens, raised the iso and let it rip on burst mode. 20 frames and this was the only keeper.

I decided to give my little Hetzer an update. It now has a more realistic gun mantlet and camouflage.
Hope you like it!

This log cattle yard is located in the Alpine Nation Park, northeast of the town of Licola in Victoria, Australia.
It is on the Tamboritha Saddle at the junction of the Dingo Hill track and the Tamboritha Road.
The water filled wheel ruts in the foreground mark the start of the Dingo Hill track and green hairy Lichen can be seen growing on the logs.
The Tamboritha Saddle is a flat area at the top of the climb up from the Wellington River and it sits at 1,280 meters.
Low cloud covered the area however it did not intrude lower than about 50 meters below the saddle.
This low cloud provided diffused lighting which highlighted the beautiful autumn tones of the Alpine grasses and when I visited again five days later, these tones had all but disappeared.
It was cold as the temperature was somewhere around 1 to 3 degrees C but thankfully no wind.
The ramp to load cattle or horses on or off a truck uses the two large gum trees as its support with a cross section secured to the trees, with rocks and earth completing the structure.
With the colder temps and snowy weather, the crowds have diminished from the desert - temporarily. After a year of not venturing far from home, I've recently visited places that would normally be devoid of vehicle tracks and even footprints that are now are rutted with off-trail meanders created by wheeled, pedaled and pedestrian travelers.
Instead of whining and complaining and blaming, I choose to find my photographic art in the everyday patterns of desert detritus.

Hunkered down in farm vehicle tracks, at the edge of a field, on a dull and windy day in Norfolk. Most of the Hares we encountered were hunkered down, probably due to the cold wind.
I stopped off on my way to the Mournes on Monday. Beautiful sunrise over Dundrum bay with the tide out. I drove there hoping the tide would be in but ended up not totally disappointed that it was out!

Bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis) and some scattered indian paintbrush (Castilleja indivisa) bloom above the limestone banks along Childress Creek. This photo is from a bridge on FM 2490 in McLennan County just before Childress Creek meets the Brazos River. For many bluebonnet blue is the color of spring in Texas. However, it is interesting how many different shades of green one can see in this photo. Got to love Spring!
Pococks Beach
Pococks Beach (NT 164) is a 5.2 km long, northwest-facing, sightly curving beach that terminates in lee of West Alligator Head. The beach is fringed by mangroves and backed by a 100-200 m wide series of low foredunes. A vehicle track reaches the northern end of the beach where a small camping area and bore are located.

The essential Malagasy canoe
(Madagascar) -We are still in bac n°3. The famous raft whose flotation is provided by cans and jerrycans. It replaces the broken down motorized ferry, part of which can be seen washed up at the top right of the photo. This time I'm on the raft. Only the sound of the canoeists' paddles breaks the silence that reigns on the river that morning, the progress of our boat being ensured by the water ferrymen who slowly pull on a rope which connects the two banks. At that moment, I experienced a magical moment which in itself rewarded all the fatigue endured on this hellish track.
This scene is an opportunity to recall that in Madagascar, the canoe is a means of transport still widely used in the many regions that do not have any vehicle tracks, where rivers are the only axes of communication. Each family has several of these boats cut from a single trunk. Generally “farafatse” wood is used. A very soft tree, therefore easy to work and extremely light.

According to Wikipedia, Spider Rock, the park's distinctive geologic feature, is a sandstone spire that rises 800 feet (240 m) from the canyon floor at the junction of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Canyon. Spider Rock can be seen from the end of South Rim Drive and it has served as the scene of a number of full-length motion pictures ( McKenna's Gold , etc.) and television commercials. According to traditional Navajo beliefs the taller of the two spires is the home of Spider Grandmother.
This panorama of Spider Rock at Canyon de Chelly in the Navajo reservation in Arizona was constructed using Photoshop CS6 to stitch together horizontally two landscape oriented images captured from the Spider Rock Overlook.
For those who have never been to Canyon de Chelly and are not familiar with the height of Spider Rock, please view in large (better yet in original) and notice the vehicle tracks on the canyon floor.

Howl&Sophie,

Hello, I’m back. As always it’ll take me a while to catch up. This was taken last week in Lisbon, where I finally made the leap to photographing in RAW, and processing in Photoshop. First impressions of the former - not so bad, enjoyed being able to get what I wanted rather than rely on the camera auto settings. First impressions of the latter - compared to the Snapseed iOS app, like graduating to spaceship from spacehopper. This was my first ever PS edit.

It flows for fifteen miles till it joins the Brazos River in McLennan County. This photo is from a bridge on FM 2490 in McLennan County near China Spring just before Childress Creek meets the Brazos.

66610 is pictured at Cliff Lane, Acton Bridge with the 6H51 Hardendale Qry Shap (Fhh) to Tunstead Sdgs box wagons. 02/10/2019.
Awoke this morning to an incredible scene, the village looked like an enchanted kingdom after heavy overnight snow. A blast of arctic air swept in behind the snow, creating blizzard like effects. I ventured down to the local cemetery where I found virgin snow, no vehicle tracks, not even one footstep. I was the first one in and felt privileged to have solitary access. Everywhere I looked the wind-driven snow swirled about creating weird drifts and patterns in the snow. The early morning sun provided wonderful contrast. I was totally snow-blind in these conditions, unable to see even a single pixel in the review screen. I just bracketed heavily and hoped for the best. This was one of the takeaway images. The shutter snapped just as I was hit with a blast of wind and snow. You can see movement yet there's just enough background clarity to anchor the shot. An added bonus are those two snow rollers at the lower right (and two smaller ones above and to the right of them). Never even saw them until post processing.
