Okay, I haven't done one of these in a while.
I thought I'd give Caskgate Street a go from a direction not normally covered.

One of several original "vector art" (line drawings on a computer) I submitted to the 'Curiosity Kits' company, who were looking for a new artist for their cool kits. My hourly rate (which I thought was more than reasonable) was too high for them. Oh well. Oh, my wife said I need to explain the term "vector art." In the digital world a photograph or a painting is called a "bitmap" image - if you enlarge someone's eye on a scanned photograph, it quickly becomes "pixelated," breaks apart and looks like lots of little squares of color. Software such as CorelDraw (that I prefer) and Adobe Illustrator create line drawings that can be scaled or enlarged (also reduced) to ANY size, and retain their clarity perfectly. Each type of program or software have their uses. Photo retouching is best done in programs like PhotoShop... technical drawings are easier and better in "vector art" programs. Many times, graphic artists use both to achieve the best result.

Before we go any further, I think that there are a few things that you should know about me.
First of all:
I am loyal to my friends.
Actually, that’s all you need to know.

this is what happens when I get bored over the Christmas holidays. I did the backwards one first, and realized something looked really wrong. I like. They're even holding hands :)
Mouse Tombstones (Line Art)
One of two variations on a design intended to be used as map marker icons for the interior of a new book published by Theme Park Press, titled "Death in the Tragic Kingdom."
The scale of the maps proved to be too small to feature any icons with significant detail. Rather than letting the artwork go to unused, the Editor decided to use the front-facing tombstone illustration as chapter headers throughout the book.

The completed vector drawing.
A detailed illustration of a Beretta M9A3 pistol. Size is 11” x 17”. This vector drawing was made with Adobe Illustrator.
The shading on the gun is about 96% gradient mesh and 4% gradients. There are no transparencies. I drew everything myself, even the Beretta logos (although they are obviously not my design) … no trace features were used. This project took about 65 hours.
I am not affiliated with Beretta in any way. All trademarks and copyrights, if applicable, are the property of their respective holders.
"It is said that science will dehumanize people and turn them into numbers. That is false: tragically false. Look for yourself. This is the concentration camp and crematorium at Auschwitz. This is where people were turned into numbers. Into this pond were flushed the ashes of four million people. And that was not done by gas. It was done by arrogance. It was done by dogma. It was done by ignorance. When people believe that they have absolute knowledge, with no test in reality–this is how they behave. This is what men do when they aspire to the knowledge of gods."
Jacob Bronowski, The Ascent of Man, episode 11: Knowledge or Certainty.
Jacob Bronowski was a reasonable man of incredible lucidity. His passion for humanity was matched only by his impressive articulation.
I count him as an intellectual hero. This illustration is published in its largest online form on Siteway:
