Stuttgart's coat of arms shows a black horse on its hind legs on a yellow background. It was first used in its current format in 1938; prior to this various designs and colours had been used, often with two horses. The canting seal pictured here reflects the origin of the name "Stuttgart". The name in Old High German was "stuotgarten", with "stuot" meaning mare, later cognate with the Old English term "stod" (Modern English: "stud", relating to the breeding of horses). The Old High German term "garten" referred to the compound on the site of the original settlement. The logo of the Porsche automobile company features a modified version of Stuttgart's coat of arms at its centre.

However, Hillel’s greatest legacy was neither his assiduous commitment to study nor his warm personality, but his forceful intellect, which directed Judaism toward the goal of *tikkun olam, the ethical bettering (literally, perfecting) of the world. In the most famous tale told about Hillel, a non-Jew approaches and asks Hillel to convert him to Judaism on the condition that he can define Judaism’s essence while standing on one foot. “What is hateful unto you do not do unto your neighbor,” Hillel responds. “The rest is commentary—now go and study” (Shabbat 31a).

The leopard (Panthera pardus) is one of the five species in the genus Panthera, a member of the Felidae. The leopard occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia and is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List because leopard populations are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation and are declining in large parts of the global range. In Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait, Syria, Libya, Tunisia and most likely in Morocco, leopard populations have already been extirpated.
Contemporary records suggest that the leopard occurs in only 25% of its historical global range. Leopards are hunted illegally, and their body parts are smuggled in the wildlife trade for medicinal practices and decoration.
Compared to other wild cats, the leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but generally has a smaller, lighter physique. Its fur is marked with rosettes similar to those of the jaguar, but the leopard's rosettes are smaller and more densely packed, and do not usually have central spots as the jaguar's do. Both leopards and jaguars that are melanistic are known as black panthers.
The leopard is distinguished by its well-camouflaged fur, opportunistic hunting behaviour, broad diet, and strength (which it uses to move heavy carcasses into trees), as well as its ability to adapt to various habitats ranging from rainforest to steppe, including arid and montane areas, and its ability to run at speeds of up to 58 kilometers per hour (36 mph). – Wikipedia
I like the different cloud shapes and types at the various levels in the sky, from dark and ominous down low to quite decent up high.
I went out to visit the Cathedral of Sewage today but didn't manage to get any decent pictures because the sun was very bright and directly behind it. Still, the view in the opposite direction was interesting enough. I wonder which will last the longer, background or foreground...?
The Allegory of Fame is a painting by the Dutch Golden Age artist Gerard de Lairesse (1641-1711). Gerard de Lairesse was a renowned painter and art theorist in the 17th century, known for his contributions to Dutch Classicism.
The Allegory of Fame, also known as "Fama", is one of his notable works and depicts the allegorical figure of Fame. In Greek mythology, Fame, also known as Pheme, was the personification of fame and renown. In Roman mythology, she was called Fama.
The painting typically shows a female figure with outstretched wings, symbolizing the widespread reach of her influence and reputation. She is often portrayed with a trumpet or a horn, which she uses to announce the achievements and accomplishments of individuals to the world.
Fame was a popular subject in Renaissance and Baroque art, and artists often depicted her in various poses and contexts to convey different aspects of her influence and power.
In Gerard de Lairesse's version of the Allegory of Fame, he likely imbued the composition with his distinctive style, characterized by a grand and classical aesthetic. His paintings were influenced by classical antiquity, and he was particularly inspired by the works of Italian Renaissance artists, such as Raphael and Michelangelo.

This is Long Ash Leat at Four Winds, near Merrivale on Dartmoor. A leat is a man-made watercourse or stream designed to move water naturally, following the contours of the ground, to wherever it is required, whether that is a farm, a quarry, a mine or other industry. The early leats which date back to medieval times were in effect a power supply for the tin-mining industry. It is thought that the dozens of leats on Dartmoor add up to several hundred miles.
One branch of the Long Ash Leat, which is on the western side of Dartmoor, fed water to Long Ash Pits, which were possibly medieval or earlier tin workings where tinners collected alluvial deposits along stream beds.
On the left of the picture is King's Tor, which is 1,246 feet (380 metres) above sea level.

Just trying out a few things with macros both shooting and processing, from my backyard. I'm getting a 56mm lens later this week, which is sort of a specialty lens (Lensbaby) which I hope to experiment with a bit, including with macros. It's a totally manual lens, meaning there is no communication between the lens and camera (and it's lot cheaper too)! One of the macros I used on some of these images is a manual lens as well - the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X macro. It's pretty cool!
I photographed Mt. Fuji from the roof of a nearby supermarket. The weather was not good, it was cloudy. Unlike the weather, shopping at supermarkets was a lot of enjoy. Shopping will be stress relief.
