We FINALLY took our @gcsurfsup Inflatable paddleboards into the ocean! We wanted to see if we could stand on them in waves and we wanted to see if we could catch a wave and ride it in. We were successful on both accounts! Honestly, this was SO rad and REALLY made us want to do some kind of multi-day whitewater SUP expedition! Who is in? We decided to #optoutside and walk off a bit of that thanksgiving turkey and pie(s). We headed down to sunset cliffs and walked around a bit and watched some of the longboarders catch some waves. We never know when we will run into the @TheOutbound the @Getoutmoretour, @OutdoorProject, or our daily expanding network of adventure friends who are ready for spontaneous adventure! We have a pair of mountain bikes from @giantbicycles and @livcycling . 🏄 When it's time to explore a river or a beach, we have a pair of @gcsurfsup Paddleboards that have been awesome. . All of the external metalwork (bumpers, roof racks, and rear swingarm boxes were made from heavy duty aluminum by @aluminess . We don't have an indoor shower, but we do have a composting toilet 🚽 @naturesheadtoilet . Since we are usually WAY out in the middle of nowhere, our @weBoost 4G booster keeps us connected so we can work from anywhere. This has been a game changer! . Light frost has begun to be a regular feature of our life this week. As I write it is minus 2 outside. In our cold climate we need to take away all the water from the living area of the camper to avoid frost damage when the real chill arrives. I opened the drain cocks for the water tank, water heater and the grey water tank today and let the last few drops run out. Then it was out with the water pump, which will go into a warm place until we need it next spring. Roll up a sleeve and clean the inside of the 100L water tank before drying it thouroughly with an old towel. Half-open the bathroom and kitchen taps and blow down them to push out most of the water there, first on warm, then on cold. Leave the taps open, between warm and cold, so when the last few droåps freeze they don't do damage. The green object in the photo is a balloon, inflated and fitted over the tap it provides just the right amount of puff. Replace the plastic, and wooden hatch and put the bed back in place over the tank.
Now we are ready for action again, using bottles of water and warming water on the gas stove. The heating of the van doesn't involve water so we can carry on camping if we wish!
This is the second autumn with the van and it all went a lot more easily than the first time we did this. It's good to still be learning new tricks!

One of the most photographed barns in the US, the Moulton Barn in @grandtetonnps. A stunning sight in the winter, and one we had all to ourselves 😍 . Typically in the summer, this barn is crawling with people, coming to enjoy the beauty just as we were. However, in the winter, the roads are closed and it requires a short (1.25 mile) hike to access. It's totally worth it to get the barn all to ourselves! . The Mormon Row Historic district is filled with incredible views and structures from the early 1900s, surrounded by pristine fields and a backdrop of the Tetons, if they decide to come out and play from behind the clouds. We even had a couple coyotes howl a hello to us from across the field 🐾 ❤ Steph named them Bella and Patricia. .
