This is for my friend Alex, thanks for the photo dedicated to me . View of part of the Cabo Espichel from the cliffs "looking" towards Lisbon - the winds are very strong and the view is breathtaking- its the end of the Arrabida Moutains (Serra) on the top we find a the famous Sanctuary of Our Lady and a small chapel (see my previous post). One of my favourite places - beaches are fantastic bellow its a must see if you visit Portugal. Have a great week and enjoy!

Kunst und Natur lassen sich wunderbar miteinander verbinden. Aus diesem Gedanken entstand die Idee, ein riesiges Boot aus Glas als Arche auf Expedition durch Deutschland zu schicken. Es soll die Menschen daran erinnern, dass die Umwelt empfindlich ist und es in unserer Hand liegt sie zu schützen und zu bewahren.
Im November und Dezember 2015 entstand das erste rund 5 m große Boot, zu Beginn 2016 die riesige Hand aus Eiche in der die Glasskulptur seither ruht.
Mit ihrer Botschaft beladen ging die Glasarche auf ihre große Reise und stoppte bis 2019 an 20 ausgewählten Stationen. Dabei sollte sie jeweils einige Wochen lang die Menschen zur bewussten Auseinandersetzung mit der Umwelt anregen. Die Arche soll vor allem Kommunikation anregen und Nähe schaffen - zwischen Naturbegeisterten und Kulturschaffenden, zwischen Einheimischen und Touristen, zwischen regionalen Entscheidungsträgern und Naturschützern. Während der Landesgartenschau 2022 ist die inzwischen 3. Glasarche in Beelitz vor Anker gegangen.

Glass ark
Art and nature can be wonderfully combined. This thought gave rise to the idea of sending a huge glass boat on an expedition through Germany as an ark. It is intended to remind people that the environment is fragile and it is up to us to protect and preserve it.
In November and December 2015, the first boat, around 5 m tall, was created, and at the beginning of 2016 the huge hand made of oak, in which the glass sculpture has been resting ever since.
Loaded with its message, the glass ark went on a great journey and stopped at 20 selected stations until 2019. The aim was to encourage people to consciously deal with the environment at each station for a few weeks. Above all, the ark is intended to stimulate communication and create closeness - between nature enthusiasts and cultural workers, between locals and tourists, between regional decision-makers and nature conservationists. During the State Horticultural Show 2022, the 3rd glass ark dropped anchor in Beelitz.

Ben Cruachan as seen from the hills above Oban.
Ben Cruachan (Gaelic: Cruach na Beinne) is a 1126 m mountain that is the highest point in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It gives its name to the Cruachan Dam, a pumped-storage hydroelectric power station located in a cavern inside the mountain, Cruachan is the battle cry for Highland clans Campbell and MacIntyre.
It is the high point of a ring of mountains, known as the Cruachan Horseshoe, that surrounds the power station reservoir. The horseshoe includes a further Munro (Stob Diamh), a Corbett (Beinn a' Bhuiridh), and several subsidiary summits

A modern totem on the Sacred Way!
Transformed into an owl, the goddess Athena now "lives" in an apartment building in the center of Athens.
Vangelis Hoursoglou, an artist with a deep love for mural painting and graffiti, presents a new project in the city center, which he calls "H-owl, Athena noctua".
Its inspiration comes from the characteristics of the legendary and mysterious bird that dominates the darkness. He even captures her on the side of an apartment building, so that she faces the townspeople, looking at them with her big eyes.
As it is placed, in the center of the city, it disarms us with its frightened but at the same time full of wonder look. In our thinking, the question "What is he trying to tell us?" arises.
However, the creator states that through his work "despite the bright colors I use, the owl of the Sacred Way "calls out" sadness, loneliness, silence, but also sends us a message of sensitivity and caution. I want to awaken the collective consciousness, through the personal cry, as I am used to in my works, to draw the attention of the inhabitants and make a personal statement".
